Thanks! :)

I've reached the point where I'm fairly happy with the model and decided to print it.
Now onto gluing all the pieces together :)

This thread somehow got under my radar, but I'm very happy I found it now :) Very much looking forward to seeing your progress with the rest of the gauntlet, as well as maybe getting the files for the hand and the forearm. Your work is incredible, keep it up!

^^

man this is awsome your awsome are you going to do a full suit ?
Someday, maybe... For now I'm aiming to make the forearm, maybe the bicep as well :)

I've put the pieces together and did a quick test fitting. The camera lens made the thing look HUGE at the two first photos, but it fits rather nicely once you pad the inside a bit.

BTW, anyone attended Comic-Con and can tell me the finish of these pieces: iron-man-mark-42-costume-47.JPG?
I'm thinking of giving them a brushed stainless look, but I'm not sure wether it should have a more beige tint...

Re: My go at creating the Mk. 42 forearm armor (glove completed)

truely amazing work man! did the prints connect easily or did you end up having to modify anything?

Re: My go at creating the Mk. 42 forearm armor (glove completed)

Thanks!
The pieces themselves did fit together very good. But I had some issues aligning them properly. I'm thinking of adding guide holes for easier assembly.

Re: My go at creating the Mk. 42 forearm armor STL files added

Progress has been slow on this, but soon all will be ready for paint.

Started to prime some of the pieces

All of the groves need to be re-worked after the filler stage as well. Fun...

I also did some quick tests of my new Alclad metal paints.
Not decided which shade I'll use yet.

WOW that's some great progress !

Thank you very much!
Well, if you take my long hiatus in consideration, it's not that great XD.

I laid on some color today. Turned out pretty good, but for some strange reason several of the print-layer lines still shine through, despite 3-4 coats of filler and primer :/ It's sorta visible in this picture.
Luckily they smooth out after a light wet-sanding.

Great stuff! I'm almost done building a Mendelmax 1.5 printer, and I'm looking forward to printing some fingers :)

Thank you!
I also use a MM 1.5. A very nice printer once you work out the initial kinks.
Good luck with the printing :)

Got some more painting done today. Here's the inner armor piece with the "elbow connector"

I also fixed the STL-files for the forearm and zipped them up. You need to split them according too your printers build volume,
obviously :)
I may add a pre-split version as well.

Great work Abb and welcome to the RPF!

We spoke via the Sideshow forum a little while back, It's great to see you bring this build here, it really is something else. Great attention to detail and the paint job is brilliant! I look forward to seeing this evolve.

Oh, hey there and thank you!

Yeah, I remember you :D I'm very happy you like my work.
Looks like you've got some bad-ass builds here yourself.
