2016 SECRET SANTA THREAD - Entry now CLOSED

Opened my gift yesterday! Thank you so much Santa!

I opened it to find a note and some food...

Then when I saw the second note I instantly knew what was under it!

Both of these are handmade and the paint job on the blaster is superb! It's also got some heft which is awesome!

Merry Christmas everyone! Will update the list later tonight. :)

I know a penny when you're poor is worth more than a car when you're rich, but I need to quit looking at all these awesome gifts. My resources and income are extremely limited compared to most and the gift I was able to give my recipient is extremely modest compared to a lot of these gifts...

Me too...

I'm sure everybody will agree that its the thought that counts.... and we do all seem to have put a lot of thought into what we've given..... not a bad penny among them from what ive seeen. I'm over the moon with mine so I'm sure everyone else is as well. Its been an excellent year for SS..... already looking forward to next year.

Arriving in an Amazon Prime Box, I still dared hope my gift contained something handmade (not that there's anything wrong with a retail gift). In true Christmas fashion, my hope proved to be well founded. Amongst the packing peanuts, I found a portfolio sized gift that I opened to find a gray mailer.
I opened the non-descript mailer to find a folder with a familiar envelope that I immediately recognized.

In the folder was a bevy of amazing paper props

Let me see if I can identify each item (who am I kidding, of course I can)
Historical Photo of Buford "Mad Dog" Tannen
Clock Tower Hand Outs (both Blue and White)
-My absolute favorite detail is the message and number to Jennifer Parker's grandma on the back of the Blue Flyer (yes, I checked this the moment I got to it)
Doc Brown's Original Drawing of the Flux Capacitor
Marty's "You're Fired!!!" Fax
Cafe 80's Menu
Cover to George McFly's novel "A Match Made in Space"
Currency for Biff's Casino ($1, $10, $20, $50)
Sherman Peabody's "Tales from Space" comic book
Cover to Biff's "Oh La La"
Cover to "Gray's Sport's Almanac"
Cover to George's Sci-Fi Magazine "Fantastic Story"
Marty's Letter to Doc on Lou's Cafe Stationary
The aforementioned envelope to Marty's Letter
Admission stub to Biff's Museum
Photo of Doc Brown and Clara in1885
Photo of Doc Brown and Marty in 1885
Photo of Marty, Dave, and Linda McFly with Dave and Linda beginning to be erased from existence
Photo of the McFly family from Back the Future, Part II
Portrait Shot of Buford "Mad Dog" Tannen
The 3 pages of Doc's "Western Union" letter to Marty
Newspaper Master of the "Clock Tower Struck by Lightning"
Newspaper Master of "Farmer Sees Flying Saucer" (unseen on screen, I believe)
USA Today Master of Marty, Jr. "Youth Jailed"
USA Today Master of Griff Tannen's "Gang Jailed"

Each piece was professional quality printed and cut on corresponding cardstock. I know a lot of time went into this, and I couldn't be happier. I've always wanted to have these done, but always hesitated because I lacked the resources (money, time, etc.) to execute them to a quality that did the original props justice. Thankfully, my Secret Santa came through in amazing fashion. With this abundance of fortunes, I don't know how to display these...a good problem to have! (Suggestions welcome)

Thanks again to Michael for running this, and many thanks to my Secret Santa! May your 2017 be filled with "screen accurate" level awesomeness!

In trying to get more of an RPF Secret Santa fix, I went looking for last year's thread and couldn't find it. Did the 2015 Secret Santa thread get renamed or deleted? Anyone have a link to where it is?

Very cool, I seen this before as I know the maker. It is a custom ROTJ themed DL-44. The maker jokingly called it is DL-44P. From what I know it has the upside down Skiff blaster scope and the tip of the same blaster on the tip of this. Various custom greeblies that he uses on other custom blasters and Electro-Binoculars, and although he has correct greeblies like the Motor/Coil and others he dremeled the side details to keep the ROTJ feel.

Just got this beautiful thing in the mail today ....

It seems to be a cast of a Denix with a bunch of awesome greebles and a lower barrel from Jabbas Guard Blaster. SO SO COOL! I've been twirling it around my finger all day. This would totally be my characters Blaster if I were ever in Star Wars. Now to think of a cool Model Name for this. Maybe Dl-22? Thank you so much for making this awesome replica for me Secret Santa! It will sit next to my Roman's Graflex for years to come.

PS: If you molded and casted this yourself, I think I might need a partner for a new run I'm thinking of doing.....
