Zvezda Imperial Star Destroyer by Dubz

YOWZA! That's certainly hardcore, Dirk. I particularly love the work on the corners (second to last photo).

That photo also reminds me I will need to prime and paint the top and bottom sections separately before final assembly to have any hope of being able to get at and clip the FO in the side trenches.

Thanks for your kind comments :)

>Is it based off any actual ship from the films or just your imagination ... maybe a combination ?

It is indeed a combination based on the studio model, Invar's work and my imagination.

>Were the various styrene rods difficult to bend and keep in the shapes you wanted ?

No. Only the thickest one was bended with a lighter. The rest "by hand" or a plier.

> but what is happening in the garbage chute ? - Is it also greebled up inside ?

Check the pictures on the first page and you will find out ;-)

>You and Invar are right on with the engine panel, superb craftsmanship!

Thanks :)

Yeah maybe I will do it the same way.

cheers,

Dirk

Wonderfully smooth , clean finish achieved with that black primer .

The extra , carefully applied detail components really do enhance these areas beautifully .

Wondering if you could please share the brand of primer used , and was it from a ‘ rattle ‘ can , or airbrushed on ?

:cheersGed

Hej,

thnaks for your kind comments :) Much apprecitaed!

It's airbrushed with Vallejo Primer (74602). But it is a tricky primer which needs a very good prepared surface. I am not 100% happy with Vallejo!

cheers,

Dirk

I can't wait until I get to a similar point with my build. Just to be able to prime it would be a light in what seems like an endless tunnel of styrene bits. But - I will just have to be patient and marvel at all these awesome builds that keep spurning me on to keep on keeping on (or more accurately, to keep on greebling on).

So thanks for inspiring those of us still in the trenches. Literally.
