Bigdaddy's 2015 Halloween costume contest entry - The Walking Dead, The Group

This is a mash-up of some of the key members of "The Group", my daughter wanted to put this together so I'm helping her with it. We're trying to stay as SA as possible with each part and it got a little pricey, but she saved her money all summer and has paid for everything on her own.
These are all pics from before any modifying.
1st: Rick & Carl
The hat is a Stetson scored on ebay, it hasn't been weathered but probably will, cords were added, vent hole coming soon.

Had a great Halloween trick-or-treating out of town! The group (we got my sister to dress as a walker as well

) traveling roped and chained together brought in a tremendous haul of candy. :lol I finally have some time to update this thread and tomorrow we'll have an official photo shoot (and walker hunt!) to post for the contest.

Michonne's sheath was wrapped with brown duct tape and white bias tape for the ribbon, we watched a youtube tutorial on doing the wrap, but ran she ran out 1/2 way through so I had to run out for more (40 mile trip!). The strap was from an ugly clearance sale purse with a clip added for easy removal.

The patches were weathered with a steel brush and rubbed in the ashes from our wood stove.

It held a good deal of loot. :cool

The wings were originally going to patches ordered off of ebay, but after checking out some other threads on the RPF she decided to try making them herself. (I was pretty proud of that decision :thumbsup ) A huge thanks to FuzzyDrawings , who generously sent me a great image of his own creation to use. The plan was to print them on paper and use a carbon sheet to transfer them onto the white denim she bought. Instead we headed to the local library and traced them onto a clear film, using the old overhead projector with the denim taped up on the wall, she traced them with a sharpie.
