ROGUE ONE - E11 blaster differences

Stoobers What is the exact name of the facebook group with the files?

R1 Trooper Armory - https://www.facebook.com/groups/R1troopers/ :thumbsup

Here's Seans post... https://www.facebook.com/groups/R1t...4441507839001/?match=c2VhbiBmaWVsZHMsc2Vhbg==

Sean also posted this in relation to using the files...

"Since sharing, several people have asked me about the "rules" for use of my files. So, to alleviate any confusion or concern, here they are:You are free to use the files however you see fit. You have my blessing to offer printed copies of the rifle, or cast versions based on a printed master, for sale for profit. All I ask is that no-one attempt to sell the 3D files themselves.
If you do profit from the use of my files, and feel so inclined, then I encourage you to take a portion of said profits and donate to a charity of your choice. Make a wish... plant a tree... save a puppy... fight social injustice... it doesn't matter. Again, this is not a requirement, but I really really like the idea."

...Anyways his blasters are known be very inaccurate casts and especially his power cylinders which seems to have originally been custom made using found parts, again VERY inaccurate to the originals seen on screen in A New Hope! The true origin of those ones has yet to be discovered and confirmed!
The prop department working on Rogue One seems to be using resin casts of the power cylinders from his Shepperton Design Studios E-11 Blaster ....

Do you mean the origins of the SDS cylinders are unknown, or the originals? I know the ANH ones have been ID'ed as taken from the same assembly that is on top of Mouse Droids, but can't find reference of that part itself being identified. If you did mean the latter, are there any photos showing the construction of or parts used in the SDS cylinders?

I got my flashlight in today. I'm really happy with how it looks. One question: how do I turn it on? I tried double and triple A's but I can't seem to turn it on. Maybe it's not in right?

What in the world kind of rail is this? It doesn't look like any Picatinny I've seen. Presumably there's a single slot where the flashlight's bracket pin goes.

Based on measurements of the flashlight and the airsoft Sterling, the length at the base of the rail should be almost exactly 2 inches.

I've found some 2" long rail sections for sale, but none without regular slots or a rounded groove down the center. Is this custom made?

E Williams are those T tracks even inside the barrel holes? They look just glued on

It seems to vary but some of them do look like the very ends of the narrow part of the T-track do go into the barrel holes. All of the blasters we've seen so far are solid castings with the barrel mostly filled in so the holes are not very deep in the first place and there's not far for them to go below the outer diameter of the barrel.

There are many suppliers of the M38 scope, even the version with the T-shaped front foot they used on the R1 E-11.
I molded mine for use with the Bossk rifle kit I am offering/ used to offer

Thanks Markus! Have you got a pic of that T shaped front foot?
I have been "scoping" out a flashlight in NZ but looks like I will have to order from Overseas . . . Might nab one this friday.

@ Elr02K Thanks for the pic I almost brought the wrong one found one that has the correct back, but a slightly different front! shesh there are afew variations of these!

That would be great Elr02k, thank you.

Im a stickler for getting things as accurate a possible can any one comment on the accuracy of the whitearmor pipe E11 plans? There are free 3d files also but Im all ways usure how accurate they are and what they referenced to modle it. Im going to start building one and unsure how accurate the ones avaliable are. Im Going to model the extra details and use a pipe for the rest. Your thoughts would be very helpful http://www.haui.eu/userfiles/downloads/E11-Blaster_Drawing_PDF-A4.zip

Ps
I know there are differences between all movies so will account for what we know so far.

I have been much deeper down this rabbit hole than you realize.
I meant BOTH; The origins of the Shepperton Design Studios power cylinders are unidentified, AND the origins of the original ANH power cylinders have also yet to be identified and confirmed.
The SDS power cylinders were obviously custom made using unknown components then cast in plastic. Nobody other than maybe Andrew Ainsworth himself knows what parts that master model was made from. Though I don't think anyone really cares because resin or rubber casts were used in Rogue One, not original parts. The blasters Shepperton Design Studios sells are plastic casts with dense foam filler, so the ones in the film may even be a second generation resin cast (copy of a copy).
The origins of the ANH power cylinders have still yet to be identified and confirmed to this day! Yes the same found part was used on multiple props in the film not just the top of the MSE Mouse Droid. These power cylinders can also be seen on other props including the hood of Luke's Landspeeder, on the side of the Targeting Systems in the Y-Wing fighters in the death star scene, and also in ESB on the side wall of Luke's X-Wing right beneath the window as he approaches Dagobah. The origin and purpose of this found part known as "power cylinders" is still a complete mystery. Research points towards mobile military radio or radar equipment but again this is completely unconfirmed.

. They used his cylinders. Big whoop. This isn't ANH stop complaining

LOL Not Complaining at all! I have no problem with this whatsoever. The entire blaster has been slightly changed so there's nothing wrong with using different cylinders from SDS,... why not right? I just thought the whole scenario was very interesting and intriguing considering the whole Lucasfilm lawsuit over the SDS armor that's all. I certainly have no qualms about them using his power cylinders in Rogue One, yea they are inaccurate to ANH but whatever I find it kind of neat actually. It doesn't have to be exactly the same as ANH!, some people are all up in arms about the new armor, but it's a new film! There's nothing wrong with it, I like the new details a lot actually. Anyways like I said it's definitely interesting about the SDS power cylinders which I why I even posted about it in the first place. And also because this thread is entitled "Rogue One - E11 Blaster Differences" so that's what I was discussing; the differences in the new E-11 compared to the old. That's what this thread is about after all...
