I second that idea.... I'd also like to try that acrylic emulsion you've been using (if I can find an equivalent here in the states), the finish looks great!

I'll be having a little tutorial soon on sealing/priming foam. . .to look as close to fiberglassed builds :lol not by using the acrylic emulsion, I only use that thing when doing fast-paced builds just like my other IM foam costumes and commission, although looks cool, I'm satisfied with the finish until I used Epoxy Primer last week on my Mark 7 helmet.

Usage of epoxy primer in foam costume building is mainstream here in the Philippines (I think), a popular costume maker here in the Philippines introduced to me this epoxy primer to seal/prime my foam costumes last May 2013, I never used this until last week when I decided to take it a shot. Surprised with the results, I decided to seal/prime my other unsealed pieces left.

All I need to do is to sand each piece using a 100 grit and 400 grit sand paper so smoothed them out. Yes, epoxy primer can be sanded when dried. And originally, this can be applied using a paint gun (air-compressor), but can also applied using brush.

The thing is. . .it cracks unnoticeable overtime.

Gonna get back working on this sometime next week since I'm on the painting stage of the Iron-Patriot commissioned suit now. Thanks for viewing.

Go build one man :thumbsup I suggest starting with an easier build, the mark 4/6 will do just fine :thumbsup

Awesome, your speed and efficiency astound me.

Thanks :thumbsup

Inspired me to make an Iron Patriot suit after I finish my current project. Good work!

Gonna look forward on your future Iron Patriot build man :thumbsup

UPDATE 04-04-14 :)

I was asked by a friend to wear this Mark 7 suit on sunday, so I decided to rush paint this suit. Yeah, rush. And here's what I've got so far :) The only pieces left to paint is the legs (thigh, shin and boots) and the right arm.

the quality of the newly painted parts is greater than the chest and ab/cod pieces, since those parts are sealed only with acrylic emulsion, the arm, leg and helmet pieces are sealed using epoxy primer, thus i will need to repaint/reseal the torso and ab/cod piece using epoxy primer to have a near fiberglass finish just like the arms and the legs.

I admire your work and your collection...I want to be just like you when I grow up haha! Love that iron patriot man!

Re: Iron-Man MKVII FOAM WIP [UPDATES]

You have a great collection there mate! Well done!

Your skills look amazing!

May I ask for a favor ?

I'd like to see some pictures from the way the abs piece is attached to the cod piece. And if you have glued all them together, how do you wear it ?

Thanks in advance!

Re: Iron-Man MKVII FOAM WIP [UPDATES]

well i just hope this baby works. . .this is actually my spare mini servo. . .i have 3 servos, and a adruino board. . .i still need to buy a bread board and some wires before i could make a programmed motorized hinge system. . . .but for now i'll try to mix all of what i've learned from last year's motorized helmet build. . .

ok that's it, good night :) gonna continue sanding and painting this suit later. . .thanks for viewing

Re: Iron-Man MKVII FOAM WIP [UPDATES]

Bring on the electronics! (y)thumbsup:thumbsup

i'll be working on that tomorrow evening man. . .i just realized i went full retard rewiring that servo :facepalm oh well. . .it's worth the try. . i still have two :lol

Re: Iron-Man MKVII FOAM WIP [UPDATES]

Looking good! Stick some watered down black paint in the recesses, It will hide unsightly foam joins and changes of paint/colour, and it helps the panels to stand out :D

Re: Iron-Man MKVII FOAM WIP [UPDATES]

its just on the picture man, theres no obvious seams/recesses now since i'm using epoxy primer for this mark 7
