Star Wars: The Last Jedi (Pre-release)

There is more truth to that then you realize, Jason. There is a whole world of people that Last Jedi will be their first SW film. I think it's ok they can have their own unique experience.

No matter how bad, you really will defend anything and everything Lucasfilm puts out for these new films won't you?

Damn...Are you Kathleen Kennedy's personal lap dog or what? ****E=****E

Guys, put yourselves in Bryancd's shoes for a minute. If you were a Disney shareholder, wouldn't you advocate the Star Wars brand with the same zeal?

I loved the Ewoks as a kid and I still love them at age 36. If there are ugly or badass creatures in the Star Wars Universe then there is room for cute ones too and at least they were smart enough to use their environment to their advantage in helping topple the Empire. Plus their sheer numbers helped. It made for a powerful visual metaphor. I can't say the same for the Gungans though.

Constable Zuvio was some sort of lawman on Jakku but his scenes were cut from TFA. His stuff is probably in the novel, but I haven't read it so I don't know for sure.

I'm loving the look of the movie with this footage. The costumes and sets look amazing! I can't get over how awesome Mark Hamill looks as Luke. He looks like a space age Merlin!

But advocating only if the product is good and the investment thesis is strong. Disney as of now still has that wind in their sails. The key to being a sucesful investor is seeing future earnings potential. If it goes south you sell.

...space penguins, owls and foxes........ugh......all the puppet/muppet things LOOK like puppets.....but, that could be just the context of the vid.

Phasma seems to have ULTRA chrome now......, Luke's man-bag.......

I still smiled a lot watching this vid, but there's a lot that still worries me...

All of us who watched the original star wars as a kid are in our late 40s now, in 30 years they are still going to be making these and most of us will be dead.

Sooner or later the studios are going to stop making these for us, and start making them for the kids, with elements adults can enjoy, you know, like they did in the first place.

I haven't watched the footage yet cuz I've been busy all day, and even now I'm waiting til I can put it on the big screen, throw on some headphones...

But reading through this thread... hilarious. I haven't read ALL posts, but the fact so many I have read are basically doom and gloom, I'm even more interested to watch...

Especially since everyone is talking Ewoks.

What?

WIFE JUST WENT TO BED! POUR ME A GIN AND REDBULL, LIGHT IT UP, AND LET'S DO THIS!

So true. They aren't making them for just older folks and they shouldn't be - these are kids films that have been perpetually embraced by adults, for good reason too. I wasn't in love with the last two new films, but my 7 year old boy was. I'm fed up with middle aged men (mainly) moaning about a kids fantasy film - nostalgia is a poisoned chalice, move along!

Okay I watched...

I will now go through this thread and try to comprehend what anyone could POSSIBLY be seeing there that would make them say "Yup, looks like garbage".

Yeah, the similarity to Earth species does pull me out of it a bit, and I'm struggling to see how those fat arsed mutant mini seal Porgies will fly BUT those are just blips really. The rest of it had some very promising shots and material. The A wings, Ren by the lift shaft, the casino and many of the other aliens all looked much better than I'd hoped (particularly after those disappointing lego releases).
As a few have noted its FORTY years since the original came out and as Dylon said "the times they are a changing". I admire what they seem to be trying to do with the entire mythology of the series, though it sounds as if there are some radical changes in scope and context on the way. As a fan of Rians work to date that doesn't surprise me, he's a damn clever character writer and storyteller, but because I've got over four decades invested in the Saga and characters as I imagined it and them to be , some of this is probably going to be a bit difficult to accept as the cast all seem to heavily hint at.
As Glunark says this is SW for a new generation.I hope it brings them as much interest, wonder and joy as the originals did for me.

Okay I totally misread the tone on the couple I read above... no one is crapping on this, really, and they shouldn;t. That looked great. And man, after the boring Rogue One characters, seeing Rey, Fin and Kylo got me instantly back into the nerd excitement for this flick.

Yes...Earth Species, like all those pesky humans. As if a few Earth looking/inspired species haven't been there from day one. And many of the characters speak...gasp...English.

It looks fantastic. Love the night shot of Chewie (not Rey, as I originally thought) by the fire near the Falcon. I'm really looking forward to seeing where Johnson takes these characters.

If people saw behind the scenes footage of the Yoda puppet in 1979, they would have thought the filmmakers had lost their minds. Skip ahead to 1980 when we saw Yoda on screen and it's pure magic. I think it's safe to think that applies here, too.
