Longmire

Mrs. Zombie and I watched the first two episodes of season 6 last night. So far, so good, but I'm really beginning to wonder if Henry Standing Bear is going to survive the series. :lol

And no, I don't want to know in advance.

We just finished the series last night and I absolutely loved how they closed things out.

Also, between Vic's storyline this season and her villainous turn on the Flash, Katee is showing the breadth of her range. Could not be more pleased with how she's developed as an actor.

Just now watching S6, loving it.

Also.... I get the whole "concept" of not having a cell and the cute character trait .... but at the rate he constantly has to use other people's cell phones it makes no sense at all for Walt not to have one.

I really have to say I LOVE the literary references the series makes as a whole.... the most recent being Lonesome Dove.

On a more RPF note.... I bought a pair of Dan Post boots a little over a year ago. Moving to a much colder climate I thought if they were good enough for Longmire they would be for me.

I love them, extremely comfortable and they look amazing...... but their "warranty" and customer service definitely leave much to be desired. After a year, the inside lining has worn to the point where my heel gets caught anytime I try and take my foot out and it's a serious hassle to get my foot out. I contacted them about repairs and they said that they guarantee nothing unless I received a defective pair and IF I did to contact the company I purchased them from (amazon).

I also asked them for recommendations on new insoles hoping they had some official ones I could purchase and they glibly said, "Try Dr. Scholls".

Having worn mostly Ariats my whole life, this was a surprise and I doubt I'll be buying anymore Dan Post boots after this even though I love these boots.

Well I just finished the very last episode. It meant a lot to me to finish the last season as I wasn't going to. My girlfriend at the time and I found Longmire 4 years ago and it was something we would enjoy together every night I was home after dinner. She broke up with me in July and moved out of state to live closer to her family. I was devastated and couldn't wrap my head around things as I was going to propose the following month on vacation. I knew the last season of Longmire was due out and I couldn't bring myself to watch it at first. But I decided I couldn't keep avoiding it and needed to finish it. The last episode wrapped up and I feel like so did a chapter in my life.

Just finished the show. Damn good ending. I felt it all wrapped up fairly well.

A few things..... spoilers below.

Did anyone else find the sex scene came out of nowhere? Not Vic and Walt getting together but just the scene itself? Also, how could he think his daughter would have a chance to run for Sheriff with literally no law enforcement background? Does that happen?

Ya that whole scene just escalated fast. But man, Vic...I can’t complain about that!

I wondered about Cady taking over as Sheriff as well. Being a lawyer she would at least be familiar with the legal system, but the Sheriff is an elected official and I don't know if he has the authority to simply "give" the job to someone.

She was putting up campaign signs, so presumably, she's running for sheriff, not just taking over...

Just seems like a fairly absurd idea. I mean maybe there are plenty of real world examples..... but.....
Even with Malachi and the Irish mob gone...... that county still has a large amount of criminal activity (if the last 6 years are any indication) and will probably garnish more with the influx of people due to the casino. She may be a good lawyer but that's worlds away from running a Sheriff's department, being a law officer, etc.

To have someone with literally no law enforcement background run for Sheriff and for the current Sheriff to think it's not just a good idea but one that will most assuredly work.... I just found that a bit laughable. Longmire was at least hired in as a deputy.

Also, did anyone else think it was a bit insane for Walt to think Vic could have ONE horse riding lesson and then be fine to ride in a cross country race?

Oh, definitely. Between that and the person he chose to replace him as Sheriff, it seems the sensibilities and reasoning that made him such a good Sheriff decided to retire as well. :facepalm

Actually, to me the way they wrapped up the final episode seemed rushed and forced as if the writers didn't really know what to do. I'd much rather they would have ended it with Walt and the deputies at the Sheriff's station; business as usual, just another day at the office. I don't know why the people who produce these shows always seem to think the audience needs some form of big send off with characters making drastic life changes.

YES !!!! Though I thought it was a good ending.... I too just wanted.... business as usual. I wanted it to end exactly as you described.... Walt, having vanquished his foes back in his office with his fully staffed department doing what he loves best.... or what we thought he loved best.

Well.... I don't know about you guys but now that the show is over... I've moved on to the books. 25 pages into the first novel and it's damn good.
