With Halloween and Christmas just around the corner I have decided to make a Kylo Ren costume and hopefully complete it in time for at least the movie in December so apologies if I race through this and drift from making it 99% screen accurate.
Sewing is rather new to me and this would be my first attempt at making a wearable garment but I thought it was worth a try..
I started off with sourcing some basic weave fabric for the outer layer, then chose to begin with the torso
Then gave the hood a try, for this i just double layered it, folded inside out and then stitched the front seam to the inside fabric
With the hood done I thought I could give the cape a try, really starting to enjoy sewing.. God help me!
This was easy enough just cut a hole in some fabric and then hand stitched bunched up fabric at the front and back.
So with the above ticked off the list I really wanted to get the pleated sleeves done, I know the sleeves are apart of a tunic and then another layer over the top of that before the basket weave layer but as the clocks ticking I thought I could save some time merging the tunic/doublet together as one piece.
I then attached both sleeves to a shirt and sewed up the pleated "skirt"
Then stitched the skirt to the black shirt and placed the pieces already made over it to get an idea of the general look so far
Best I try it all on
Well that's it so far but generally happy with how it looks, more updates over the next few days!
