Doom Cacodemon Costume

So, I finally decided to bite the bullet and do my first cosplay. I toyed around with about a dozen ideas but I wanted to try something I have never seen before. I decided to go with the Cacodemon from Doom. I am going into this with a couple self-assigned restrictions.

1. Completed costume by Sept 9th ( Austin Comic-Con )
2. Use as many materials that I already have on hand.
3. Budget of $300 ( Not including materials and tools already on hand )
With the budget being so low, some of the steps in the build will be extremely rudimentary but effective.


I will be posting pics of the build process here. Photos to come soon. Any feedback over the next couple months would be much appreciated.

Sounds interesting. I am thinking of doing the Doomguy myself.

Dang. Cant believe it has been 4 months since I last posted. Finally have some progress to report though. After a very rough start ( I blame my cheap ass for wanting save money ) I finally was able to get the shape I wanted. Trying to get this done by Sept 23rd. And I am also working on a Princess Star Butterfly wand and Maleficent wings. Im screwed.lol

I started off with a giant beach ball and covered it with fiberglass. Not the cleanest job but it served its purpose.



Next up I foamed the entire ball. I went the cheap but effective route of using spray foam. The whole thing took me about 20 cans.


As you can see it has starting to take shape. Now that all the foam is on, its just a process of sculpting away until the cacodemon appears. I am going to continue blocking out the shape tonight and move onto the horns and teeth tomorrow.





This is basically how it should work when I am done.

Got the horns and face completed. Prepping for paint as we speak. All that is left is to paint the eye, make and add the teeth and build the harness.

I was in such a mad rush to get this done I did not take any more progress shots and not as detailed as I had planned but her he/she is all finished.

I also took home best male villain costume award

BTW. Total cost of the project was $219. About $80 under budget
