Not sure if this is a correct place to post this but, ... My new sculpture / prop project is a storage box. At first i thought I could use throw keys, wallet, watch and change in it, but after realizing the size is perfect for a light saber hilt. What ever ya wanna store in it. The finish project will be 14 inches by 5 inches by 5 inches. This is the front panel, I have started sculpting the side and back panels but am not sure what the top ( lid) design should be. Cast in 5 sections with probably a wood bottom, still tinkering.

Hey PropWeasel ! Welcome to the forum! Neat idea! I like the lead box look of it! You could do the other side of the box with R2-D2, Leia, Luke, Han, Chewie, and C3PO. The ends could be the New Republic or Jedi Logo on one end and the Empire Logo on the other. The top could be two lightsaber halves: GRAFLEX and MPP pointed at one another. Or if you made it a little wider, say to hold two lightsabers, you could have full depictions of those sabers on the top. And one of each inside! ;)

Good Luck with your project!

Hola Ridire, Thanks and yes I was thinking of splitting the box like that. Half rebel half empire, or doing 2 separate runs, or both. I think at 6 inches deep its big enough to hold 2 hilts. I will show more progress when my silicone shows up ( I hate waiting)....IMG_0117.jpg

Hey PropWeasel ! Either your box just got 4 times bigger, or that's a .45 scale Vader Lightsaber there on top.

The box is lookin' good! Are you going to do a tiered top with a beveled step on it?

Hey Thanks Ridire , Yeah the saber is just an artistic sculpt not to be an accurate copy of size and exact detail. The lid is 15 x 7.5 inches so I would say the saber is around 12-13 inches.

Hey PropWeasel ! I still like the Darth Vader's lightsaber box idea.

Not that having a blaster box is a bad idea though! But the Solo's Blaster Box should have Boba Fett and Jabba the Hutt heads on it. Add in IG-88, Dengar, Zuckuss, and Bossk. And throw Mandalorian symbols on the ends of the box and I think you have a winner!

Hey PropWeasel ! The boxes look fantastic! I like the coloring on 'Carbonite' and the handles on 'Bantha Horn Ivory'.

On the next set of boxes you'll have to add a little lip to the tops so that they can both help seal the gap between box and lid and add lateral shifting support to help the longevity of the hinges.

Then you can get crazy and start experimenting with sliding latches to lock the lids closed! ;)

Press Darth Vaders face mask part of his helmet and "POP!" the lids opens. TA-DA!!! :D

Next stop.... BRONZE!!!!!

Congratulations on seeing a very clever idea through to fruition.

Thank you sir,
Yes so many different things to do and as I build more I improve. If I sell kits the maker can go wild with ideas. Just trying to figure out a price point for the kits.

So any interest in these kits? I know I have to become a premium to sell on here but before i spend more money i don't have I thought I'd see if there is interest.
