Pepakura build newbie

Hi all

Long time stalker, first time poster.

I have just built 2 ironman helmets based on foam pep files using cardboard.

Mk IV (build 1) just taped, so i could get a feel for the process

Mk 46 (build 2) hot glued, with removable faceplate

I have now moved onto a paper pep file of Red Hood. I was looking for a full helmet, with little detail.

After a number of a number of experiments with glue types, i have settled with gel type superglue - even if i glue myself to every tab.

So far so good.

However:

After applying a coat of resin, i found that it has all gone 'fish eyes', I've had this with painting poorly prepped panels before, but never with resin (I'm new to pep, but and old hand at body repair) its plain white card from a local hobby store, but the resin may be a little on the old side. Looks like i may have to start this one over.

Any other suggestions what i've done wrong?

Oh, thanks for the add.

Cheers

Ryan

I have only done fiberglass resin once before but might be able to help but what to you mean by fish eye do you mean that there are resin bubbles on the piece?

Not bubbles, but the resin seems to be 'anti-puddling' as if there is grease on the card
Maybe go over it again with another layer of resin see how that turns out or just go straight to the fiberglassing the inside with new resin as the outside will be covered with bondo anyways so if these parts that are anti puddling are small then it shouldnt make much of a difference
