I saw it again last night. I still think it works far better as a comedy than a zombie movie or a horror, but I appreciated it a bit more this time.

When they are in the Grocery store, and Tallahasee kills the zombies with the Banjo, halfway through that sequence his banjo disappears and is replaced with a pole with a tube of metal on the end. Where did that come from and what the hell was it...?

I think that was a bat with a batting-practice weight on it, though I could be wrong.

I agree with Wuher Da Brewer that Zombieland is more of a comedy or "road" picture than a zombie or horror film, which is possibly one of the reasons it's been so successful (an estimated $83 million worldwide after six weeks) and may explain why there were never any "suspense moments for any of the main characters" as Wuher stated in a previous post--the creators simply wanted the audience to join these characters on their journey rather than worrying which of them wouldn't make it to the end of the film. Then again, since this was originally conceived as a television series, it probably wouldn't make a great deal of sense to kill off one of the main characters so early in the first season (I think it works better as a theatrical release anyway; given the premise, they would have been forced to tone it down considerably for television).

I hope they make a sequel, but I'm guessing Columbia and Sony are waiting to see how well the dvd sells before making that decision.

Not anymore. It can be a gimmick if it's abused, like anything else.
After seeing UP in 3d, I'm sold on the potential for storytelling enhancement and dimensionality it can add to the cinematic experience.

I had read somewhere that Zombieland was written as a TV series for CBS. CBS asked for 12 episodes to be written before backing out, and the movie Zombieland is actually the first 3 episodes combined, roughly.

Yep..Its on the special features of the movie..They said they had written it as a pilot and it was supossed to end when the girls take Tallahasse's truck from the supermarket..

I was expecting the second coming of ****** with all the glowing reviews. I thought it was ok. Maybe a few laugh out loud moments here and there. I saw this:

I just watched this last night and I loved it. No its not a horror movie at all but it was great to see another Zombie Comedy however. This one is a keeper in my DVD collection, right next to Shawn of the Dead. :lol

Seriously, I wish they could make this into a TV series still. Maybe do a spin off series of the movie but I would love to see some Zombie killing on my TV on a weekly basis.

I'd watch it. Only if all the actors and actresses play their roles. No point in having one set of actors playing the characters in the film and having another set playing them in the show (that's another one of the reasons why I didn't like the "Stargate" TV series. Richard Dean Anderson was no Kurt Russell and that other guy they got was no James Spader. Just my opinion, of course).

Agreed. Fun for what it was, but very lightweight. The Murray scene went on for waaay too long in an already short film. The TV show thing makes sense, as the movie felt like an incomplete segment to me. Not a patch on Shaun.
