Zombieland Tallahassee necklace

Trying to make a copy of the necklace Woody Harrelson wore in Zombieland.

I have some photos of a stunt version that was sold on eBay a few months ago, but the hero version is a little different. Does anyone have any good clear photos of the one Harrelson wore?

If I remember correctly, the DVD commentary says that the jewelry was Woodys own, tho I could be mistaken.

If so it's probably vegan, and quite possibly recycled from old bongs. ;)

OK, found a few images - zoomed, brightened & sharpened:

Stunt version (from screenused.com) for comparison:

Looks like the locket has the Tree of Life on it - kinda like this pendant:

Hope they help!

Excellent work Coz. I had not seen the close ups of the locket that you posted before. Those are the clearest of the hero necklace I have seen. Unfortunately, still not enough is seen of the blue pendant to make an exact replica. But I'm on the right track.

I have already obtained the exact locket used on both necklaces. I've worked out the size of the blue pendant and will have something that photographs pretty close. It will be closer then what they used on the stunt necklace.

Because of the better photos, I can pick out the type, size, and color of the beads used on the stunt necklace. I already have all the components to make the lower hanging necklace with the locket. So I'll make a version of the stunt necklace but with a pendant closer to the hero.

Here is what I have so far. The pendant is just resin I have been shaping. Once I'm happy with it I will make a mold and cast in blue. The top is some piece I found and modified.

I was thinking that there was quite a few props that could be done from this film. But this is a good one!

Finished the necklace last Friday just in time for a con.

I decided to make the stunt version because there are better photos of it available which allows me to be more accurate when looking for parts to make it. But I would try to make a pendent close to the hero version and space the beads on the pendent necklace like the hero version.

Here is how I made the pendant. It's not exactly like the hero version because, Like I said, I can't find any better clear detailed photos of it. But I think what I have photographs with the costume about the same.

These parts would be modified to be the cap of the pendant.

Here is the cap assembled and a rough stone made from dental acrylic.

I painted the cap silver.

Then antiqued it with black acrylic paint.

To cast the stone I first had to get the color right. The blue round things at the back of the photo are the test castings. The little gray thing in the photo is the dental acrylic stone, pits filled, primered, painted, and wet sanded with 1000 grit paper to be smooth. Next to it is the mold made from the dental acrylic stone. And next to mold is a few parts cast in it. The stone separated from the base has been polished with flitz metal polish.

I've been working on my own necklaces too. I've noticed that he actually wears 3 necklaces. The on with the locket, the one with the blue pendant, and a third one with is braided with blue beads on it. I've made the Blue Pendant necklace and the braided necklace for myself already, and I found something that would serve as a close approximation to the locket necklace. I would like to know where you were able to find the exact locket like the one from the movie. I'd be happy as all hell if I was able to get one to complete my own necklace.

Would love to see what you have come up with so far. Do you have any photos showing more detail then what you see in this thread?
Did a ton of internet searching with all sorts of search words for the locket. Finally had the one pop up on ebay searching square lockets. Did the same search several times over several weeks. Title and description said nothing about Zombieland.

I did make a mold of the locket and cast a few parts but haven't finished them yet.

I agree, when I first saw this movie I hardly noticed the necklace. After seeing the work done in this thread, it has really grown on me. Very cool.

where did you get the locket from?
I was wanting to make my own version and it would save me a lot of time if I could buy the locket instead of molding one myself

Last year when I was working on my Tallahassee costume, this thread helped me a lot. I wasn't a member then, but since I just joined, I thought I'd post the necklace my wife made for me.

The locket was made from polymer clay, which she sculpted and painted. The turquoise teardrop bead was order from ebay. The rest was assembled from beads I found at Michael's or A.C. Moore. It was my first costume for a Con and worked out really well.

Does anybody know what hat Woody wears in Zombieland?
Ask, and ye shall receive: The Real Deal: Made In Brazil: Recycled Tarp Hats, Bags and Accessories

Fair warning: Every hat is different because they're made from recycled tarps that were used by truck drivers in Brazil, so the odds you'll get one exactly like the one Harrelson wore in Zombieland are slim (especially since the Zombieland wardrobe department dyed and aged the hats he wore in the movie). I've owned two of them so far (one I bought, one I won) and, although they were the same size and shape, the coloring of each was unique. That said, they're one of the coolest hats you'll ever own--comfortable, waterproof (except for whatever holes might be in the material), lightweight, durable...you'll probably be wearing it for decades. (y)thumbsup
