Zaphod Beeblebrox Kill-O-Zap Blaster - Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy Gun

Hello guys and gals! I have been lurking around on the forum for a while, but since I have now finished my first ever prop build (Scrapbuilt) I tought it was time to act!

I like the H2G2 books (read them a couple of times- six or seventh time now I think :) ) I also like the 2005 movie. So I tought, why not make something that can show the world my love for this wonderful movie? I documented the building process and put it together as a "DIY" to post at my YouTube Channel. I do realise that compared to RPF-standards it is a piece of junk. For example, ít is too big, the handle has the same width as the main body, one of the buttons is a montage screw, etc etc... But I hope it's ok anyway?

Best regards from Sweden

DonToby what a great project. I am a huge fan of the HHGTTG and loved to see this scratch built !

It is rough but do not be hard on yourself it is not "a piece of junk". You put time into this and when I first opened the thread I thought of hey the Prop Gun they sell on Ebay. The colors were good and it feels like the Zaphod gun which is the main intent !!

I would say many others on here could give a much better critique and advise than I can. I would only throw out the idea of filler / sanding and more filler and more sanding to help create a smoother surface on the wood prior to painting. Nice idea to use the sticker paper to be the white parts and not more painting.

Video it was fun to watch and I look forward to seeing more HHGTTG props from you :) Maybe a POV Gun next ??

Your a frood who really knows where his towel is !

Haha, thanks a bunch Ford :D

I am not sure about the next prop... the POV Gun or the Vogon Gun:

Or maybe a small scale replica of the Heart of Gold? :)

I have both these replicas if anyone needs pictures. Plus genuine props from the film and much much more

Does anyone have photo from the BBC series. I think it makes a quick appearance looking like two ray guns stuck together by the handles. I was wondering if better photos existed.
