I want to get the "Handbook for the Recently Deceased" and Necronomicon.

I also want to make the "Yeats" poetry book from "Equilibrium". I have the bookcover image, I just need to find the right sized book.
:)

A lot of good ones already listed (Red Book of Westmarch is superb), but mine would have to be the Bible used in Shawshank:

Handbook for the Recently Deceased (BeetleJuice)

Agree to that! In Germany we got an official Book "Handbuch für Verstorbene". Its the same like Handbook for the Deceased. Its a real book, and the cover is very cool and comes close to the idea of the original cover from the movie, but its not acurate to the movie version...

I like the red book of westmarch, too. Great prop.
Necronomicon (Evil Dead)
The History of Hill Valley (BTTF3)

and anyone remember the magic book from elvira?!? This was cool, too.

What else?

Tobins Spirit Guide? Never seen in the movie, but a nice idea. Some guys make it from the GB cardgame already.

Not really a movie prop, but therew was a nice looking book in the intro movie of Mortal Kombat Mythologies for Playstation. chinese signs, dragon logo, really cool.

Maybe there are a few more, but I dont remember all at this time...

My current favorite would have to be my made for production copy of Rasputin's journal from Hellboy.

Secondly, my replica of Novem Portis, the book from The Ninth Gate, which was bound by the woman who made the originals for the movie.

Question for you, sir! Rasputin's Journal, are those the only pages with writing, or did the prop artist make several pages with text/images? I ask out of curiosity, as I believe I'm familiar with the other works of the prop artist, and he's painstakingly complete in his always-impressive works!

I'm not sure what "prop artist" youre thinking of, but all the illustrations in Rasputin's book were drawn by Mike Mignola. He talks about it in the making of Hellboy art book, and I had a chance to ask him about it at comiccon this past weekend.

But to answer your question, there are a total of about 20 different pages, some of which look like they were put in a specific order, and then there are a couple of text pages that are randomly used to fill the rest of the pages of the book.

My high school yearbook... :confused

Circa 1982; I'm sure a few years down the road it may hold a place in the "Indiana Jones" or "Mummy" series of films... :lol

Aha! The "made for production" made me think it was one of this guy's, not Mr. Mignola himself! Nice!!!

That photogallery belongs to Tim Arp, who is a member here (d48thronin), and actually did make a few pieces that wound up being used in the movie, but not the Journal that I have.

I know it's not from a movie or TV show, but I always loved the linking books in Myst. Just a cool idea.

And yes, I'm also a fan of the HHGttG.

Tim does great work. He obviously loves the franchise!

Yesterday my daughter saw Neverending Story 1 and the book is a great prop.
Other great prop book is the book of Saruman (LOTR trilogy)
I sculpted a replica from the ED1 Necronomicon covers a time ago now for a group project, I hope it arrives to an end someday...:confused
