You may think they're Buck Rogers pistols...

Hey guys...

Just finished these up. Yes, they are copies of the Buck Rogers Directorate pistols, but for MY collection, they take on a whole NEW identity...

They are weapons from the planet Terra as seen in "Greetings from Earth", and "Experiment In Terra" on Classic Battlestar Galactica. They were used by the Eastern Alliance soldiers and at one point they were brandished by Starbuck.

Gotta love prop swapping between shows... it doubles the size of your collection... :)

Cool. That clear plastic end cap looks like the same part used on the front of the scope for a rebel fleet trooper blaster.

Looks like they just painted right over the whole thing with matte black paint in that shot with Starbuck.

But the end caps are custom turned by me here at the shop. The ones that came with the gun castings hit the circular file... they aren't even worth trying to save.

I got the castings cheap, which is a plus in any case as far as I'm concerned, but they did have a whole slew of bubbles (like swiss cheese..). So they aren't perfect, but they'll do for me. I'm happy.

it looks great :thumbsup

the casts i have had a few chunks out , and my emitter was full of bubbles.

I finished my Buck , my fav. :p

i believe i sold my Hawk to PNTBYNBRS.

john :cool

do you have any more emitters to sell.

I once saw a photo of the clear emitter on the BR guns, and you could see where they had drilled holes up from the base in the emitter so it would show the light better. I think it was three holes, but it has been many years since I have seen the photo.

The emitter that you saw flash when fired in the series was actually a clear acrylic shower/bathtub faucet handle.

we seem to be getting off the thread about the great looking pieces Gordon made to the BSG / BR connection. :lol

but the Buck pistol emitter did have 3 {correct number i believe} holes from the rear in the hero guns.
it sometimes had a front sight over it and sometimes did not.

the BSG original blaster emitter was said to be cut from a shower faucet handle then recast. the diagram below shows how it was cut.

akso Glen Larson had both shows so some props did migrate over like Voyage To The Bottom Of The Sea and Lost In Space did through their Irwin Allen.

DAMN I LOVE THESE LITTLE FACTS. :D :D :D

That is actually something I would like for my collection. I enjoyed the Buck Rogers guns and the Battlestar crossover is a pretty nice add-on.

I can think of lots of crossover props from the Allen shows. One control panel I can thing of has been in hundreds of shows ( 7 days, Soap, Battlestar, Night Stalker.etc..).

i see 3-4 colors there black and grey and a silver or 2... :confused
[/b]

Hmmm... how odd. I see what you're referring to now. At first blush, the color variation looks like lightplay on a black body. But on closer inpsect it reveals, as you point out, what could be a total of four different shades of gray/black/metallic gray/silver.

DURN IT... Now I gotta go back and look at the episodes and see if I need to repaint BOTH guns.

AAAARGH. Ignorance is bliss. ;)

Hey...here's a question: Anybody ever done an essay of the different paint schemes done on the Colonial laser pistol? I know there are at least two or three different variations as to what litle bits were painted white or red or yellow. Has anybody done a study on this?

So... the original was cut fron THREE seperate handles and then re-assembled to make the shape we know as the emitter end of the Colonial laser? Or am I interpreting your diagram wrong?

yup , thats the way i read it also. that pic was posted a few yarns ago on the board.

i have a pic of the knob somewhere, it was the mixing knob in between the hot and cold on a shower , kind of flower shaped and clear acrylic.

also there are a lot of model parts on the TOS blaster also. i think tank , ship and something else.
not to mention the antannae {sp} of the Apollo lunar module said to be a sight on top.

Rich Coyle resurched the colors a lot when he did his screen accurate one. he may chime in.

I'm sure Chris Pappas has. :)

I don't think so, there are differences unless this is an older version he did. I guess Rich would be the best person to say for sure...

That'll teach me to look at my pictures better before posting them. Not sure how that picture got into the directory of screen used photos. Anyway, here's the picture I wanted to post. As well, here's another showing the shower faucet knob unpainted.

Back on topic... Gordon, were both of the Buck Rogers blasters that you posted above seen in BSG?

I am 99% certain. They would have been in one of the two Terra episodes or Greetings From Earth. I have to go back and check to be 100% certain.

from my understanding the BSG TOS blasters had no trigger button, the radio shack square was added to the later copies.

the hero BR pistols had the red NO radio shack buttons on them.

i made my TOS emittwer clear on the side to show the flash.
