Yoda FX ??

Anyone heard if Master Replicas is going to do a Yoda FX saber?

I heard talk of them releasing a Dooku. Anyone else have any info?

i asked a MR rep about a year ago, and he told me that they were working on shrinking the electronics down, and that they were working on a double bladed maul, but they were trying to get the guts even smaller, with less or smaller batteries to be able to fit in the REALLY small hilts... AKA yoda and sidious.

but since then all ive heard is crickets... :unsure

so the answer is... possibly, maybe.

Well, they did make the Maul, so maybe there's some hope for Yoda too. It's not like they're going to stop making them anytime soon. They're gonna have to spread them out a bit, or run out of FX products to release.

That is great to hear. I just started collecting the FX sabers. Just got the Maul and I have the Anakin. So, I kno that I'll geet a Yoda and Sidious.

These things are great..

What did you use for a hilt (MR, repro, scratch-build)? Have any pics?
[/b]

I second that.

please and thankyou. :angel

yeah, and FYI, MRs are great... i have 2...

but if ya get a chance, click on that little banner of hyperdynes there... if youve never seen the site before, prepare to soil your pants... :p

and also, who knows with what the MR guy said, cause like i said, he said they were working on getting the electronics down... not that it was deffinate.

he also said that there was talks of removable blade FXs...

and there is evidence to that with the vader ep5 and the ani ep3, but let me tell you if you do the conversion to make the blade removeable... dont swing it with all your might...

that thing turns into a surface to air missle.

so unless they could get a VERY reliable locking system... they will NEVER release ones with detachable blades.

trust me when you sling one out, its a shocking thing, and you get the feeling after hearing the smack it made 20 yards away... that would kill a kid if he got hit in the temple.

I heard that the "emitter guard" on the dooku saber makes it very difficult to produce an FX saber due to the acrylic tube. The guard would have to be off-set and would look really wierd.

Betcha they could put a groove in the blade to allow for it, to a certain dgree anyway.

According to the article at www.fx-sabers.com the only other force-fx MR is looking into at the moment is the Yoda. Frankly I think it won't be appealing (at least to me) because I bet it will be re-used sounds and blade, and an obviously oversized hilt. Not that they are too blame much as an accurate sized Yoda with sound is REALLY hard to fit in 7" (assuming their digital and LE type dimensions, much less the accurate 6").

Well, for 6" and an accurate hilt I get this:

Take off 2" for a secure blade holder. The current boards are around 1.5" in length. So that leaves 2.5" for batteries and speaker. It's hard but possible. I think they'll go the easy route and I wouldn't be suprised to see a hilt up to 1.5" in diameter and 9" long... that'd be a bummer. :/

With a Hyperblade system it's very possible. The LED driver board is very small. only 1.7" x 1". Battery can be isn't very big either. Definately can be done. With sound I imagine it being a little tight, but doable.

That takes the cuteness out of it..

I have no doubts about that Mark. It's quite possible on any system (the MR driver is less in size than yours), but is MR going to go to li-ions to get more out? Probably not because that requires a charger and AA and AAA's are pretty universal. All it takes is a revamp of the battery pack, there is a lot of empty space in there.

I would love to see a Dooku saber in FX form... but this can also be more of a curse for MR than a blessing.
Sure they can MAKE a Dooku FX saber, but they'd most likely ruin its look by compromising some of the coolest parts of the hero saber (Dooku curve and emmiter gaurd, Luke VI neck, Obi III neck) to make it and it will look like the rubies saber (which by the way was made into an FX saber on another thread giving us a good idea what this would look like) and create more bad hype against the FX sabers. I like the FX sabers okay, and own a slightly damaged Anakin III FX saber from Best Buy that I got for less than $30.00 (it was out of its box, on display in the store when EpIII and Battlefront II came out, been played around with REAL hard by reckless kids, got droped and scuffed, and collected dust in the rear storage for months until I asked about it and they acted almost like they were desperate to give it to me). But I think they are all about the blade (a blade that Hyperdine has even surpassed)and give little, if any, attention to the hilt. I vote they make a Dooku FX for the folks who want one, but I'm not buying it if they don't give the handle the detail and attention it deserves.

Just my thoughts on this matter and feel free to correct me if I'm in any way wrong.

P.S.-- Rabbittooth has some awesome Obi ANH and Luke ROTJ FX/LED sabers, both having SKINNY NECKS, on his site. Too bad MR never looks to the superb work of the fans as a reference for their own products. I'm in no way bashing them as they do have many more good qualities than bad, it's just that when something does go wrong in the design of one of their products everyone starts complaining about it.

Yeah I totally agree Michael. There is a lot of empty space. Sometimes it's really hard to find extra room or empty space for that matter. :rolleyes

I didn't know MR driver's are smaller then mine. But size matters not right. :lol

Welcome to the board. I always find your contributions to lightsaber technology facinating.
