Yoda Eye Size help!

So many Yoda's. I am in the planning stages of sculpting my attempt at 1:1.
I ordered some plastic delrin balls. I got 1.181 inch diameter balls, but the size looks wrong to me. I think I messed up. Please look at the pics. That's a normal size spoon. If I have it wrong, can an expert please tell me what the correct size is. I thought it was 30mm. Thanks

30mm is correct.

I have a funny feeling 30mm is too small...
Here's a document by Stuart Freeborn regarding the eyes. Notice the "38" number near the words "Nylon Covered" on the data sheet that provides details on the eyes.

What's the "5/8" near the iris area about?

Here's a few more images which increase my doubt. I had no idea what these 1.181 balls would look like "Size wise" until I got them, and they seem to small to me compared to what my art brain see's and assumes is the right size. Unfortunately I'm not a math guy.

I was too busy drawing stuff during math class.
