I really didn't wanna start a new build this summer and had sworn to ONLY finish the many others that i started...

I wanna thank Alan Castillo for the leap of faith painting file.

On with the build...
I found this thing at a secondhand store for cheap and started by prying away the first board from the other. Pretty simple because they only used 4 small nails that i later used to attached the board together again.

I was planning on sanding away the black paint but the backside was clean so i just flipped it around and sanded the edges. Then i printed out the Painting on printer paper and attached it with decoupage glue. After it had dried I used my dremel to do some weathering on the edges and the bottom plate.
Then i painted the bottom plate with black acrylic paint (mixed with lots of water.) A black permanent marker pen was used in the scratches and before it had dried i used alcohol based hand disinfectant (70%) to spread the marker paint out a little bit more.

After it all was dried I use gold foil around the Grail that i weathered with a tiny bit of high-grit water sandpaper.

All in all it took less than 2 hours to make.

I got this spotted texture on the decoupage glue by dabbing on the glue with the end of a stiff brush.

It's not as big as it looks as you can see on this picture with the ruler.

Now it hangs on the wall over my hobby table.

This is the first time I've seen a whole found item being converted into a Grail Knight Painting :lol

I am 'laughing' out of sheer amazement of the continued ingenuity and creativity I see on the board :lol

Fantastic Conny :cool !! (y)thumbsup(y)thumbsup:thumbsup

I am particularly amazed at the shadowing / grain texture effect on the back boards :eek

Couldn't have done it without your picture. :thumbsup

The grain effect showed up after I had used the rubbing alcohol on the marker pen. Guess the wood fibers soaked it up and made them more visible.

So much for that plan! :lol
I just love these uber simple builds you can do in an afternoon for cheap. The results are always awesome and so rewarding. I think the size is perfect too, great job man!
Cheers! :cheers

Thanks everyone :) I really like this smaller scale on the painting and i had fun making it.
