Pneumatic tubing bondo'd into the nodules on the rear shell

A lot of electronic madness going on here; my dad worked solidly on all of it yesterday

What I also forgot to say is that we had to completely tear out the electronics in the front barrel because the speaker was pants; and also some other reason to do with series and parallel wiring, but I can't say that I was listening that much

Here's the switch system, it's a bit unusual, most builders seem to go for thumb-operated switches, but I've found that having them to be finger operated is far easier, AND allows for multiple buttons to be pushed at once (e.g shift+blue)

The switchplate is removable, as it's bonded to a piece of Lego Technic, which clips into another Lego Technic piece glued onto the backplate

Wow! GReat work man, you're definitely the first to incorporate moving parts into a portal gun build. What did you make the shells from?

SO it was MCM Expo yesterday, and the gun was a fair hit with everyone! My cosplay was based around Mel, from the Portal 2 concept artwork; mainly because the only jumpsuit in XS was blue.

I saw quite a few other Portal cosplayers, but I didn't manage to get photos with many.

I know this is a build thread, not an events or cosplay thread; but I thought the photos fitted in well.
Final photos and a video will be up in the next two weeks once I've built a stand for it

Thanks, I just wish I had the time to do as thorough of a job as you did. My daughter asked for this as her christmas gift in late november so I had to find as much preexisting material as possible for the least amount of fabrication time. I used black sewer pipe for most of it. Here's pics of the build:

I made the stand today; Its just MDF really. It works though, that's all I'm concerned about. It's going to look like a concrete panel a la original Portal style; so I'll weather it with rust and grime (but not too much)

Magnificent work, you must have had a great time at the Expo. Don't worry about posting convention pictures in a build thread, part of the reason we follow along is to see the end result out and about. I especially liked the shot with the daft punk guys, very nicely taken. You should be very proud of your work.

Damn sexy! I really like the weathered look! I always thought the gun should have a bit of grunge on it, it basically went through hell in the games.

I really like the weathering you added to the stand, it really compliments the portal gun. Adds age to the piece, which makes sense given the storyline.

Looking at getting one done for my NECA ASHPD. Was going to get it laser cut from clear acrylic, but now i'm thinking about going down the same route as you with a nice weathered look
