Yes, another Diamond Select TOS phaser toy-to-prop-replica conversion.

Hobbytalk, Star Trek Prop Enthusiasts, Starlog Magazine (though that's more of a general sci-fi site).....

I finally made something that actually reached 100% of my target goal.
This is a first for me.

A lil’ doom-browsing for inspiration on my part as I ready my new build. That’s a nice rig, as well as your ingenious P1 mod shown on Hobby Talk (maybe the same - hard to tell?) The stock AA/DS sight always falls short but you’ve managed to work that added lift and it really looks great! Thanks for sharing ~

Yeah, it's the same mod I used on my prior P1 (except no sight mod since it never gets raised while in the P2). They both fit in there.

That custom sight assembly really makes a difference. I wish AA/ DS would have incorporated something similar into their pieces.
I just completed drawings for a scratch-build. I used to do jewelry work years ago, so I’m tooling-up to fabricate all the metal components as well. I’m thinking nickel-silver in lieu of aluminum for ease of brazing. I should begin my posts in the next few weeks. Advice welcomed! Thanks

my advice: don't go down this road.
My REAL advice? Hit the gas.

Glad that sold so quickly. A package deal makes it easier if you’ve never taken one on. It’s a fun, challenging project. I hope they enjoy their mod!

It's not easy. I find that I'm still working on mine- the DS handle is too long & the raised bits don't meet the upper grip as they should.
More work...

Yes, when I built the HMS/Rodd.com kit (which the DST/AA toy is based upon), some years ago, I made a few mods to accurize it a bit, including shortening the handle.

It's still an excellent replica, as-is, and accurate for a "Trials & Tribble-ations" build, but a few tweaks are needed if one is aiming for a TOS look.

Your work looks spot-on, and I’ve learned so much reading about yours, and others amazing phaser projects.
I think I’ve noted the primary difference in tolerances between the AA/DST and Hero replicas, so I do have those numbers. I’d like to incorporate the full acrylic sight assembly but then it’s probably complete the full J Long style internals... On the fence about taking that on. I can always go the easy(er) route then upgrade later. Thank you again!
