xdmray half mask

well crap...... ;) i did the first half of the mold........ everything going well......time for the second half....i forgot to lube up the first half. i luckilly saw what i was doing but not before pouring some hydrocal over it. tried to save it... did my best .... i guess we'll see tomorrow if it will be any good
:D    &$#@*%#$^($*^%#%$!%$@!!

Should always spray a clear coat on the clay model when ur ready for molding.
If Ur lucky the clay is oily enough it may just peel off without sticking too much. Good luck

dude i know........im not worried about the clay coming out, more about whether or not the mold will have the detail along one of the edges. man i was so mad at myself. thanks.

well i cracked it and the seems just down right suck. i went ahead and put some latex in, ill pull it tomorrow and see how it turned out. :(

ps Mike you'll most likely want to find a different half mask. Sorry bro. but then again it was my first time doing a two part.

i couldn't remold because of forgetting to clearcoat it i had to dig out all the clay. the sculpt was trashed in the process. but you know the pull isnt half bad. :(
i think it's probably too small for most bios. maybe it's just right for the Mysteria ones. I hear they run a little bit smaller.
so maybe i will sell just a couple for smaller guys/ladies/kids. who knows.

Looks great. How many coats of latex did you apply to the mold?

this one was one and one third of a quart. it was just to test it. i dont have enough to let it dwell. so i rotated it around. it had one real thin spot under the chin that i was able to reinforce .

SO there's only 1 of these then? is The mold is trashed? waaaah :( it looks pretty good also.

no the mold is ok other then the huge seems it has, a couple air bubles. i could make some pulls. but, like i said i think it's probably too small for most bios. your bonehunter and the P2 i have kinda hang off the sides too much for my liking.

Well, Seams are normal. Most Effect shops paid millions for people just to cut seams off latex. :( Its good that you can still pull more.
regarding bio sizes:
I just got my P2 Hero Bio from Hez I its not that big. Then I realize I make my Bio's waaay too big.
I've got Chuck's Celtic and Casey's Wolf and my bio side by side and its in that range of size so that I can gauge the size when I sculpt.

just a couple more pics.........
Once i make a run of these i'll offer em up in the buy n sell. i want to have em on hand and ready to go.

This was just a pratice paint up. i have never painted anything organic. so i wanted to practice on my first pull from the mold. I 'm pretty happy with it considering. Im glad i practiced cause now i will be able to do the patterns in the correct step and not have to go back over anything.

man you get tired of spots. o_O

Well i had some backer rod so i decided to put some dreads on this since it didn't turn out so bad.

Hey xdmray, Mask looks great painted up. Btw how did you temper the backer rod ends so nicely?

i barely trimmed the ends to just get a slight point, then just used a heat gun and alot of patience. if you do it very carefully and just a little bit at a time you can get the taper nice and gradual. but they are stiff as all hell. it also helps to cut a wedge in by where they are attached and glue it back together so that you get them to hang straight down.

thanks for the kudos.

Hey Dman I think you did a fantastic job on painting. The spots are done right on and I think your size by the way the bonehunter fits on it is not to small, more like right on also!
Good Job!
