X-wing helmet paint patterns

Hi everyone!
I bought a vacuum-formed X-Wing helmet, but it's plain white. I wanted to get suggestions on how should I paint it. If you have painted yours, can you post pictures here?

This is my resistance one, finished to match one of the pilots in TFA.

The checkerboard and emblems are decals I had made from a local shop, the rest I painted.

It looks good, but I have an original trilogy helmet.
