Got a question for the Prop God's here, Has ansyone made the Xwing Pilot Code Cylinders from scratch, I'm in a bit of a bind. I can make the leg and belt flares and can get the buckle, but All the cylinders I find are out of my price range right now. So would anyone have a tutorial on how to DIY for the Cylinders?????

Thanks!!!

For my original set I took some pix with me to the hardware store (OSH) and went through the drawers of sink fittings and washers for parts that looked close enough.

There are some metal washers that have stepped parts than when the plastic gasket part is removed and they are stacked look very much the part.
They resemble the Imperial Greeblies on the hats and buckles but thinner and only 2 disks.

These I placed on an aluminum tube but rod will work as well.

As a standard the pilots had 2-3 and in later films Wedge had 4.

Thanks for the heads up, What Hardware store did you go to??? HD or Lowes?? I can go to the hobby store to get the rod or a wooden dowel...

Orchard Supply Hardware (OSH)
You could also try ACE, not sure about the others.

I think I also had a regular washer in the middle (nickel plated)

Just take some pix and find things that look right there should be a few different items.

The code cylinders that Kenny sells (if he still sells them) are really nice quality, and not too hard on the pocket-book, if you're still looking.

I agree, Kenny's arm tools are the ones I have, and they are fantastic and not too pricey.

However, if you are REALLY broke, there ARE tutorials out there on how to make your own. I can't find the links for you because I used up my quota time this morning on the World Cup!

However, you really should try Rebel Legion Welcome for all SW costumes. There are some excellent tutorials and links there.

I can't find my old tutorial. They were too big anyway. But yeah, long nail, aluminum tube, various sizes of washers. Easy!
