X-men movie franchise out of place continuity

Does anybody how in the X-men movie continuity is so out of place. It's so tell what the year or setting is because it is never explained. I want to know i you notice this to.

The Last Stand is set in "in the not too distant future"..... but Mccoy is hanging upside down and reading a magazine from october 2005...

Having lived through 2001, 2010 and soon 2015, the future is never as far away as people tend to think.

When it comes to a film full of mutants I'm not overly concerned what time period they're set in. It's an alternate universe where this stuff happens in a world just like ours. Much like any other film focusing on the supernatural. Last time I checked there's no massive Stark tower in New York.

Exactly. These movies, although FULL of potential, were AWFUL. WIth the DECADES worth of books you'd think they would have just written themselves, but no. They had to take artistic license and just bastardize the stories. Even the new XMEN movies are just barely watchable. The entire franchise needs a FRESH reboot. I can take alterations to universes to keep them fresh but you have to do it RIGHT. IE The Avengers series

Well, the latest one kinda did reboot everything. At least back to where it mostly was in the first film. I thought the first two were good, as was the latest one. But the third one and the two Wolverine movies were just...well, it'd be kind to call them mediocre.

Because they did such a good job with this in the comics. Psyclops and Jean would be nearly 70 by now.

Do all mutants have extended lifespan? Prof. X and Magneto have to be nearly 100 in DoFP future (taking place in 2023)
