They are a combination of flight suit and skydiving designs. If you're really interested I'd try researching suit harnesses for flying, skydiving or maybe paratroopers. The center knobs seems to be a vintage quick release latch that you give a 1/4 turn to release the cross strap. The two buckles that run parallell are also tension released, the tab you see are for you thumbs, when you apply downward pressure it releases the tension on the shoulder straps.

the helmet for magneto looks better than the other movies.. i love it, but im also thinking to myself "why would magneto use that obviously uglier one in the later movies??" even though we all know why

I'm still trying to figure out what those connections were designed for on the torso.
Why would Mystique wear wonky gloves? Kinda detracts from her sleek look and appearance. :(
 
Ya I'm with ya on this, a motorcycle jacket would be a bit of alright.

Hopefully this will get the ball rolling on how we could actually make these. I know I would love at least the jacket to ride around on my motorcycle. Maybe with some cyclops goggles just to be a bit more geeky. :lol

Holy crap!! Thank you so much for those screencaps! Now we can see the whole line up minus Beast. All the suits are slightly different from each other too. Unique tweaks of the same design. I like that. I want to know why Beast is MIA in this photo. :confused

It does seem a little off in the photos. I'm with you on it being tampered. But it may very well be a practical Helmet that just happens to look that clean.
 
Greay shots of the suits Nick!! You can see pretty much everything, all the detailed ribbing and textures.
Now we need shots of the back. :p
 
You sir, are a gentlemen and a scholar. No matter what anyone else says. Thank you. I'm really hoping David from UD Replicas catches wind of our discussions, so he can interject what his thoughts are on these suits. I'm sure the first time he watched the trailer, he rolled his eyes and sighed: "here we go again..."
:p

Now looking over all the minute details, this might be more of a challenge than the X2 Wolverine battle suit he has mastered. That's alot of custom/rare hardware to boot. :/
