X-Men: Days of Future Past

to be honest, Hugh Jackman doesn't look that much different to how he looked in X Men in 2000. Its incredible to think its 13 years ago, bloody hell!

Oh maybe a little different... lol

I'm thinking of the white hair like Vash's black hair from Trigun.

The more Vash and Knives use their powers, the more their blonde hair turns black. Wolverine doesn't have immortality, so he is going to eventually run out. But the move he uses his healing powers, the shorter his life becomes, which is evident by how white/grey his hair turns. Same with Vash. When he uses up all his power, his hair will turn completely black and he will die (hence why the Trigun Maximum manga has him with 50% black hair. He's what, 200 years old and had been shot an mutilated pretty much the entire time).

Singer essentially explains why Wolverine has grey hair here :

"The grey in the hair is something I took from X-Men Days Of Future Past, it’s a look in the comic," director Bryan Singer told Empire exclusively today. "I liked it, even though he hasn’t really aged physically it’s something that shows how tough things have gotten in the future, and brought that out in him and given him a little more world-weariness."

I find it hard to get too excited about this one. I didn't care much at all for the previous X-Men films - except X-Men: First Class which was a whole other animal and just a great (and fun) movie.

I'm worried because Singer's helming this one - again, I didn't care for his X-flicks much and while I find his Superman better than Man of Steel (his Superman saves the shuttle bit might be the best Superman seen on film yet)... I still find his touch for comic book movies to be less than great. I'm also concerned that they're just going too far and giving us more characters than we need - if they can handle it, it might be cool - but, more often than not it just gets too crowded.

The trailer looks good - it seems a little too heavy on Wolverine, but that's their cash cow. I'd rather see young Xavier and your Magneto as that's what made X:FC work so well in my eyes... they did include enough of that to definitely make me interested (and the last Wolverine movie was solid).

I am cautiously optimistic for this.

Thoughts:

1. I like the vibe of this trailer, and I like how they tie the two franchises (X-men of the present, X-men of the past) together.

2. Um...didn't Dark Phoenix basically disintegrate Prof. X in the last film? How exactly is he back? I know there was the thing where the guy in the hospital woke up, but are we to believe that he magically turned INTO Prof. X instead of simply being the same mind in a different body? Or are we simply ignoring the events of X-men 3 (which, for the record, I'm fine with)? Hey, maybe this film will totally retcon X-men 1-3. Again, I'd be ok with that, even though I enjoyed the first two.

3. I far prefer Singer's work to Brett Ratner's work. The one thing Singer got about the X-men is the sense of being an outsider, which translates well to the X-men. He's a talented director, but I think he's also been hampered by weak scripts. I still very much enjoy the first two X-men films, though.

I think x3 is getting a partial retcon while still remaining in continuity. The mind transfer body was rumored to be Xavier's twin.

It was confirmed that the body Charles transferred to was his brain dead twin brother, "P. Xavier". Plus, even in the first video clip of Moira and the patient, Patrick Stewert played P. Xavier. So yeah, identical twin scenario.

I have a feeling this could be one of the best Marvel movies yet, and that is saying something.

Easy there... Didn't you see the trailer for the new Cap movie? I have no doubt this will be awesome but, personally, I need to see a little more to jump that far.

I know it's early, but with this outstanding cast, the time travel aspect of the story, and how great that first trailer looks, I am very optimistic. I won't know for sure until I see it, but it appears to have all the pieces in place to put it right up there among the best.

The whole Wolvie hair is mostly cuz the comic & to differentiate between young and old versions. Xavier did transfer his mind (this is why he smiles at Logan before turning into real life pixels in X3) The time travel directly relates to Xavier's mind transferrence (since they're switching Logan's two minds) and this is probably where they explain it all & tie X3 to this one. Singer started the X Franchise, which paved the way for the mainstream CBM's over a decade ago, I have faith that this movie will ROCK!

Really? Maybe not in this thread, but there is at least one person that asks that question/brings up that point in every discussion I see about the movie.

Y'all need to think before you type. Watch X3 again. Xavier was talking to a class about how eithical it would be to transfer a consciousness of one into another who' was brain dead *HINT HINT*. At the END of the movie, it showed that body of his twin bro...He jumped his consciousness into his twin brother's body. And it wasn't Origins that effed up the continuity between them all, it was First Class.

SPOILERS***********************************************

Singer also revealed MONTHS ago that Kitty was going to do some sort of power fusion with Xavier to be able to send him back in time because he was the only one that could recover from the pain of being sent back which makes sense...And the graying of his hair in the future was because of the stresses of that world. To be fair to singer, they never EVER explained in one comic why wolvie ages so for him to say that about his hair is cool with me. It would be awesome if they related it with his powers being drained by Silver Samurai.
