Anybody know where I could get my hands on an accurate one of these?I would really love to be able to get a screen-used one(so if someone has one or knows of a screen-used one PM me please.) but will settle for a very good replica if anyone has one or knows someone who has.

i seem to recall an original was offered here a couple of years ago, there some good shots of it, maybe they can be posted again by someone.

The original used compressed air i believe to make the needle pop out and the soundeffect was actually a person making the sound.

An original? That is something I have been searching for for some time now.Anyone else remember who had this?Any pics or more information would be very much appreciated here.I am interested in buying if the owner is interested in selling. :)

I sold the original seen on eBay several years ago. If John can't find those images, I should have them somewhere.

Cheers Phil.Always good to hear from a friendly voice. How much did that originally go for?

It's good to hear from you as well.

I don't clearly remember for how much the prop went, but I believe it sold for the amazingly reasonable price of about $1300.

One day, that prop will show up at Profiles for $10,000.

Very good price for such a great piece.Probably out of my price range at the moment anyway. Was just wondering how many had been on the market or were in private hands? It's definitely a piece I would love to own at some stage. You're right about profiles that's for sure.

I only know of the one I sold, but there may be one or two others in private hands.

Ha.

I'm currently watching the whole run of the X-files again (just started S5) and I was actually thinking of making one of those...

If I remember correctly, there were at least two variations of the spike: a retractable unit that had a gravity-feed mechanism, and another type that opened using compressed air. In other words, the original prop did not have the true functionality of a stiletto.

The spike I sold was a gravity-feed version. By holding it facing down, while pressing the button and then releasing the lever, the spike would drop down and stay "locked" in the open position. Holding the piece up and again pressing the button would cause the spike to drop into the handle.
