WWII Pilot gear

Don't know if there is much interest in WWII reenacting on the boards, but I have took a break from movie costuming and started doing history reenacting. I have a 110st 506th D-day paratrooper and German Field Marshall but I had also ways wanted to do a US Bomber Pilot, and today my last part came, my 65 year old flight boots!

So here are the photos. Please let me know what you think. I did tons of research on bomber crews and pilots-This is 1944 B-17 pilot in Europe.

75% is original dated items.

Looks pretty good, is there any room to slip a peice of paper between you and that jacket? I had no idea WWII pilots were so tall. How far down do you have to duck down to get through a standard door way?

It does look great my brother.

That A-2 is a size 44, but with 3 layers of cloths on befor the jacket it gets a little tight. Tell me about being tall, it is really hard to find items that fit because most people back in the 40s were only like 5'9 it seems. Haha.

The A-11 leather helmet,A-6a (a1) Boots, parachute, radio equipment, oxygen mask, mae west B-4 are real items from 43- late 45. Boots are 45-46 and they say US Air Force which was formed after the war.

The A-2 jacket is from Eastman leather co. and made by one of the contractors which made the jackets durning the war, it's original with "new" old stock parts.

The Eastman Leather stuff is amazing - i have their pre-war irvin and a B-3. Very exacting replicas, right down to the tanning and dying processes.

Nice! My dad has an A-11 he found years and years ago at the junk yard. Wears it now when he rides his motorbike (a bike with a motor strapped to it.)

Good looking gear, man!

I LOVE seeing projects like this! Not only does it look great and feel great to finally get it all together, but it's also kind of a way of honouring the people that wore this gear originally.

Really good job!

you look great.
I have had a ton of WW2 aviation gear through out the year. Love the stuff. I had that exact same get up at one time.

you look like a figure I did years ago.

I do WW2 stuff as well and am working on a Bomber Pilot as well...maybe we can link up some day. What is your location? I'm at Ft. Campbell KY.

All you need is the correct holster and the S&W model 10 revolver to finish it off
