I'm crazy. But it is too late to turn back... This year's Halloween costume is Nom De Plume from the world of "World War Robot" and art of Ashley Wood.

I've done many intricate and crazy costumes in the past, and by comparison, this one should be easy, but we'll see. Of course with a costume like this with all the details actually visible in 3D on a figure, it makes getting the right pouches and things a little easier.

Here is the shirt so far, sewn together from two shirts, weathered and with iron-on transfer graphics. After a few prep washes, the red in the logo has turned somewhat orange, but not much I can do about it.

Accurate Ammo belt and holster are coming in the mail. the helmet is a halloween costume one, but its a dead ringer for a real german military helmet that I will add straps and weathering to. Most military surplus ones are the shorter ridged ones.

As for the gas mask, I could not locate an actual gas mask that matched Nom's, but i found this el-cheapo costume one that is close enough for my to modify with a vacuum hose and red lenses. If i find its too cheap, Ill make a plaster cast of it and cast a quick one in fiberglass and modify it.

That must be a halloween mask.

Old soviet stuff had round lenses and a hose attached. Of course WWII masks were like that.

And one in leather;

yeah, no actual gas mask looks like that, but Im going to try to make it as accurate to the look as possible, probably using a 2" vacuum hose.

got the halloween mask today, as expected its total junk, so prolly gonna make a quick and dirty sculpt and resin cask mask. Helmet i got is pretty nice though, somewhat bendable plastic, but good shape and not too thin.

I keep missing these books, a guy on the figure site has been making customs of the robots and I love costumes with gas masks. The army navy down in town used to carry old ones cheap too.

dont k now who i was kidding, wasnt happy with it, revising already, lol. Shortened up the mouth area considerably and added the second ridge around the edge before the mouth tube. Wont have time to revise it much in this stage, gotta get done by halloween,.

think some already posted a image from the site but gasmasks.net has some great reference images. It's where I bought my gas mask for an upcoming costume

just ran through the site and unfortunately, none match up with Nom's mask. Its a different kind of design.

UPDATE! Still havent painted anything yet, but got some detail and straps on the helmet, and got the mask sculpt molded and cast, super rough, but thats the way it should be. Got some double layering on the mask, but I think it will look really cool once painted and weathered.
