Just got my material from South Korea from Ebay , I've been playing with the material trying to position it correctly , for those interested to get a proper cape effect for a guy 5'8 to 6" it takes 4 to 4,5 yards to drape it and get the correct flow

It,s micro suede but it's cotton based and very thin and inexpensive ! The pics do not do it justice , it's really crimson red and it flows just like Cavil's cape in the movie , you can purchase it on E bay for about $7.00 a yard .

very nice looking cape. i think i am looking at a similar material now on ebay but it says its 100 percent polyester. do you have a link to your fabric? is it one piece or sewn panels. i have been trying to figure out the pattern. just cant get the pleats to sit right on my test cape. also nice print in the background, one of your own or purchased. i have carl9149's pattern myself which i am modifying. details are in my thread

OHHH, is THAT what they use in the movie? I've been trying to figure it out for my Supergirl, but have come up unsuccessful.

Cape is looking marvelous, by the way!

Ah, microsuede. Great fabric for draping, as long as the pile isn't high enough to cause the fabric to stick together through friction. Usually not a problem though, yours looks fab!

Appears that you have the proper look going, good job! How low does this hang to the floor? My only issue, being above 6feet tall, is the correct length. I'd need an extra wide fabric.

Yeah it's micro suede you can find it at almost any fabric store it's no big secret and it is very reasonably priced you need 60 width that will give you enough to pleat with

sure here is the link tell her , I recomended you , Faux Suede Micro Fiber Suedette Leather Like Cloth Upholstery Designer 56 Colors | eBay

yep, and if your 5'11 like me you need 4.25 yards to have an even cape 60 inch more or less at the bottom an a full cape !

thanks, micro-suede is nice , it drapes beautifully and if it is cotton based , like this one , light weight and inexpensive!

I ordered Tango red, don't follow the pics on E bay because the colors are sort of off , I talked to the distributor and she recommended me this color and it is perfect E bay Igloo0203, she ship's from Korea , she is fast and very competent. you' need 4 to 4'5 yards for a proper cape about 50 $ plus shipping .

How do you select 4'5 or 5 yards on ebay? It only lets you select the quantity of fabrics needed. I am worried I will get 5 fabrics at 1 yard each instead of 1 fabric at 5 yards total length.

When I purchased mine I had to send her a private message as to the quantitiy needed. You can do this during the purchase stage with paypal. My cape is going to be 6 yards worth.

So either you are 18 feet tall or you are going to be doubling up the fabric? :p

there has to be enough fabric to make a semi circle. your neck will be in the middle of the straight line of the semi circle giving you an equal cape length from all points resulting in a big flowing cape instead of the simple "beach towel hanging from your neck" look achieved with a rectangular cape
