Wolverine's Jackets

Gun, I really wasn't arguing over anything with you, just throwing out the other side of things to consider... The pics are a big help on what your problem with the jacket is all about. From those swatches the dark brown or walnut with octagon stripes or even your jacket color would've been a great color choice to get close to accurate. Vanson definitely needs to take yours back and make you the correct one...that is just rediculous.
For everyone else sending me PMs on the Wested... The only customizations I had Gemma change were using the leather I found and giving them measurements that would hopefully keep the lengths correct.
Wested sent the unused orangish leather back to me... it's enough to have probably one more jacket made, made two if they cut it up right, since two full sleeves are still intact.
If you contact Wested and talk to Gemma you can say you'd like to have a jacket done as DAN.THEMAN did, and he will know what you'd like to do probably. And feel free to PM me about the leather I have left if you can't find a similar color, since I don't really have a use for the remainder.
I'll see if I can get some better pics of the jacket up soon. The waist stripes really do end right on the sides as the standard Wested Wolve jacket does, and like I said I tried to have them cut the back like the Vanson to get the stripes correct but they wouldn't change their pattern that much, a shame because that would've been perfect for me for that one extra aspect.

I'm glad to see those swatches. It puts my mind at ease a bit because I remember specifically hearing "walnut" on the phone and that's probably what Mike wrote on my order form. I actually prefer the more brown color as opposed to the "almost black" brown. I've had a leather jacket in that dark brown before, but just by personal preference, I like the rich brown. Unless they COMPLETELY messed up my order too, I'm feeling a bit more confident.

Here it is. It will end all color devates and bring balance to the force. Because I'm aware the scanner doesn't pick up dark colors well, I ask you to trust me with the descriptions that will continue underneath this pic I'd like to call "Exhibit A":
These are the swatches Dawn sent me, like, 4 or 5 years ago. Yes, the scan was brightened to better show you the color. I guarratee you the photo touch-up does NOT compromise the colors at all.
WALNUT MIGHT LOOK LIKE A LIGHT BROWN, BUT THAT IS DUE TO THE TOUCH-UP I HAD TO DO, SO YOU COULD SEE IT APART FROM THE OTHER COLORS. WALNUT IS A VERY DARK BROWN, BUT NOT AS DARK AS DARK BROWN.
As you can see, the OCTAGON color isn't a dead-on match to my jacket's color, but they do look very damn close in person. My jacket is a tad, just a tad darker and shinier than octagon, which is the closest of all the color in the swatch pile.
While Walnut is a very good color, much better than octagon and my jacket's color, the dark brown will be the one, true winner. Not fully black, but not fully brown either.
I can prove I wanted dark brown to Vanson because I WROTE "DARK BROWN" in my order and I STILL HAVE THE ORDER SHEET WITH ME...... GO, ME.
Guess what? Out of the 3 color leather samples, Walnut is the softest leather sample. Not a huge difference, but it is softer.
Weren't they supposed to use horse leather? Like, I was expecting cow.

The Man, I sent you a PM. I am looking at ordering my jacket from Wested. I do not have any confidence in Vanson at all after GuntahKela's recent experience. It sounds as if their customer service also sucks. What is up with these companies lately? Shoddy products and other disappointments seem to be the norm. I hope things turn out better for me. I will keep you posted.

I just talked to Vanson. No one at Costumer service was availabe, but they put me throug someone after I said it was an emergency. Well, it is.
They confirmed with me that the color they used on my jacket is OCTAGON. It might look different in the scan because it compares a treated octagon to a crude, raw octagon color sample.
I said that I specifically requested DARK BROWN, so they said they were gonna look into it and call me back.
They also said they used cow, not horse, for octagon comes in cow.
Being curious about Knightsaber's upcoming jacket, I asked, "a friend of mine's is getting his Wolf jacket today. Is he getting the same color as mines?"
She replied, " Unless he requested dark brown (like me) is likelly he get will get octagon. Did he request dark brown?"
I replied, "well, we assume you know what colors go into the wolverine jacket. So, maybe, he didn't feel the need to mention something obvious."
She replied with all movie jackets they made were made octagon. I said, "they look almost black in the movie. From octagon to black, there is a huge leap."
I'm dying to know what will KS get.

NO jacket today. I was told that it shipped out last wednesday. If it did, it should have arrived today. I have already emailed vanson, and left a message for my salesman to call me. I'm gonna make sure it has indeed shipped, and ask about the color too.
UPDATE:
I just found the door tag for my package. It seems Vanson did not ship UPS as they first said, but rather FedEx. So my jacket did arrive, but nobody was home to sign. Looks like tomorrow is the day.

Well, after mulling over it for a bit I decided to drive out to my FedEx depot and pick up the package. And guess what? I got an octagon colored jacket...*sigh* :rolleyes Just like Gun said, this jacket is incredibly well made and fits great. Oh, and guess what else, they put the gold inside the zips on the sleeves...even more reason for it to go back. I have no idea what happened to these jackets. Maybe between myself and Guntahkela's orders, we can straighten the Vanson folks out on what this jacket should look like. I'm going to put some pictures together and send it back with the jacket and nice little letter... For now, I"m just flat out disappointed.

You shouldn't have to tell the original maker of the jacket how to make their own jacket. That's the most troubling thing.
I'm pushing for the X3 version with Wested, but I think they may need a little more nudging from the masses to get started. So anyone interested in the X3 model might want to send an email to wested@wested.com to get the list growing.
I need to get together as many hi-res pics of shots with the X3 jacket to get them plenty of source material to go with, so post whatever you guys have come across here please...

Dawn knew the standar WOLF color, Octagon, was not accurate to the movie's final look. That's why she told me to go with Dark Brown from the get go. She made it easy for me. This also explains why she sent me the leather swatches: to show me that dark brown, compared to the other, original aletrnatives, was more appropiate for the movie look.
My defence is I specifically ordered DARK BROWN in my order sheet. Your defence, Knight, is gonna have to be that they told you on the phone they were going to use walnut, and you agreed to it, NOT OCTAGON. There was a verbal agreement, and you were not notified when the color was gonna be other than the verbally stated, walnut.
Well, Vanson didn't call me back. I will call back today.
Oh, and the gold IS supposed to be inside the sleeve's zippers, Knight.

I snapped a couple of pics. Forgive the poor quality. I had to use my webcam since by brother currenty has my digital camera. As you see, the jacket has a very red tint to it. It is not as obvious in these pics, but trust me it is not the correct brown/dk brown it should be.

I called vanson today and tried to get through to my salesman. The receptionist told me the showroom was closed yesterday and today for inventory. Hopefully he will call me back, but I'm not counting on it.

The jacket looks great. The color does look a little off though, I hope they fix your problem too now. Are you going to weather the strips a little when you get it back?

When they say INVENTORY, it sounds like they are INVENTING excuses for not returning calls. I do suggest we talk on the phone about returns before sending anything back. They could send their carrier for pick up. Not to mention, we are responsible for the safe return of these jackets, so we should let them tell us what the next move will be.

Gents, I am going to hold my tongue (mostly) so as not to make people feel bad about their purchases but these vanson jackets look pretty willy nilly to me. I am sorry to say...gold in the zippers? Triangles that don't taper correctly? What the hell?????
