Wolverine's Jackets

Actually, from what Dawn at Vanson told me, and I believe her (she no longer works there) they made the jacket in two different leather weights...you can see this in some of the scenes such as the subway monologue, the leather drapes and flows as opposed to the Sabertooth snow attach where it is like body armor. Vanson has a lighter weigh leather that they offer this jacket in now, more of a "fashion" leather and less the armor....which SHOULD look more like the screen used jacket...

By the way, the red striped jacket you see above was the PROTO sent to Fox...the ones they wound up weathering and using were still red accented but there was no color on the zippers.

Just got off the phone with Vanson. They said the will push to get it done by the end of this week. I should call back on Friday.

Also, no, no colored lines around the zippers *whew.*

Hopfully your order will finally be done with, Guntahkela. On a side note I don't have much to say about the X3 jacket as I'm still waiting to here back from my CC source.

I'm pullin' for ya man. Hopefully Vanson comes through on this. And I'm glad to hear that there is not color around the zippers. I have the feeling you and I had the exact same thoughts when we saw that post from SHH.

BTW KS my opinion on what I saw of the movie collar was a squared off end, but I like the look of either.[/b]

I guess I've never examined it closer. The picture I have always used as ref. is the one from the bar when Wolvie has both claws out and arms extended. Im that picture the collar looks round. Then I examined the pic from the snow battle scene more closely. Yes, it does appear to be square in that pic. Given that we know there were actually two jackets made (which I suspected) it is possible that one had a square collar tab and the other was rounded. I kinda like the rounded end better, but really doesn't matter to me. I just love the overall design of this jacket.

Maybe Wested (the people who did the original Indy Jones jacket) might want to look into it. Not only would the jacket be more than half the price, but way better customer service.

It's possible with plenty of requests to them. They're doing the Rocketeer jacket, and they just finished the War of the Worlds jacket.

The War of the Worlds jacket is superb, I bought one a month or so back via eBay. Wested know the score.

Wested has indeed made a version of the Wolverine jacket. However, it is not quite as accurate as it could have been. It is possible that may change in the future, as atleast one member is currently working with them, but I wouldn't count on that too much. But yeah, the WoW jacket looks real nice. My brother is probably gonna order one soon. I'd really like to see it myself.

Sorry to send the thread off of its axis a little, I'm not trying to hijack it or anything.
You might want to tell your brother to ask about Wested possibly making a subtle change to his jacket, if it's possible. I didn't think to at the time, and I wasn't aware of the issue anyway, but it might be useful to consider this one.
The only way I'd change the jacket, and I have to emphasise that it's personal preference, not a fault at all, is that the zip tags on the inside pockets are very small and a bit fiddly. If I had my way, they'd be a more standard size, possibly with a hole for a small loop of leather lace.
That's just me, if you doesn't mind a small tag it won't even be an issue.
Tell him to go for it, he won't regret a thing.

Any pics of the Wested yet? I was looking at the PD jackets and it looks like they updated their X1. Still not close, but a little better. The stripes are a different color and a bit closer together. The collar has also been changed.

I actually received an email back from vanson. They said my jacket is currently being cut and sewn, and could possibly be done by the end of next week. We shall see. At least I got a little feedback. That could be a good sign.

Wayne, I'll be sure to mention to him about the WoW zipper.

In context to Knightsaber's previous post, just wondering if anyone has any pics of the wested, or any updates on the Vanson for that matter.

DONE.

Vanson has informed my jacket is done and should be here in 3 days. I'm looking into Friday.

Yes, as stated mine was received a few weeks back, between the jacket going back for repairs, a couple of business trips and not having my own digital camera, pictures have been delayed, but the jacket has returned and I've got a free evening so I'll get some photos now and post them in a moment or two

Well, not able to get any pics of me wearing it as my roommate isnt here, so I removed my Mal displays browncoat so he could model it for me :lol
The stripes appeared an amost cream colour in the original pics, but I think maybe the flash washes them out as they almost have that appearence in my pics too, but they're more of a 'dirty yellow' colour in the flesh.
Got one of it hanging up next to Wested's WoW jacket too for the fans of that to see how it compares.
As you can see, the sleeves are a little longer and it hangs a little higher at the waist than my WoW.

Heeeeeeeeeeeey, that's not half bad at all...i like th base color of the jacket, the flow, the stripes and the color....hmmmm, we may have a winner by default here.

Is the jacket a solid brown or a mottled brown?

They've 'aged' it. So the brown varies across the jacket, which I quite like, but it appears to have once been exactly the same brown as the WoW. But I figured I already had one that exact colour, so didnt bother requesting that they not age it. though would probably be more accurate if left un-aged

Yeah, that's a lot nicer looking than the pics on the auction and wested site. The brown is much richer. As for the stripes washing out, try this. Put the jacket in a well lit room and take the picture with no flash. We might get a better idea of what the actual stripe color is.
