Wolverine's Jackets

Vanson update:

The week and 1 half time-frame they gave me, 4 weeks ago, has turned into, well, 4 weeks.

I talked to them yesterday, and they told me the jacket is still being made. WTF is taking so long? As always, they played the "leather" card. "there was a problem with the leather, but it is all fixed now."
They said they will call back, before the day ends, to tell me an exact date for delivery. They never called back.

The guy I talked to also told me the original lady who took my order messed up the order from the beginning, and she used to have the nerve to tell me on the phone, "we don't have the leather, what do you want us to do?"

Ofcourse, it is easy for them to turn her into the fallguy, since she no longer works there.

I'm getting really bored of this.

That's just great. Sounds like more of the same. Did you mention that you've been waiting for this jacket for nearly a YEAR.? I'm especially interested in this because I figure, the sooner you get your jacket, the sooner I get mine. But at this rate, I might be waiting a year too :rolleyes . Maybe we should just take a trip to Fall River, MA and see for ourselves. What would they do then? Yeah, I might just do that...haha.

Yeah, they know I've been waiting for about 1 year. They said they are making a bunch of Wolverine jackets, and they are gonna bump mine's to the front.

WTF? I should be at the front, anyway.

Uhhhhh, yeah I think your jacket should have been waaaaaayy ahead of anybody else. I know they probably have more wolvie jackets to do, but I'm not sure they have "a bunch". I find that suspect because when I called about a month ago to confirm my order, all I did was tell the sales person my name and he knew exactly what I ordered... I dunno, maybe he just has a good memory. Well, hopefully that month doesn't turn into another 3...or 4...or 5...

Heheheh, I'm going to be up in Boston next week. Driving back down to NY, maybe I'll make a detour and swing by Falls River, MA and have them measure me up for a jacket. Wonder what they would say if, right before I put a deposit on the jacket... "You know, I'm VERY interested in purchasing this jacket... but I do know of this one guy who's been waiting a year and another guy who's been waiting 3-4 months because your leather stock isn't it? Could I see the rolls of leather in the back before I put a deposit down?"

Can someone post pics of them wearing their Wolverine from WESTED....I would be willing to take the plunge if the colors are right and the cut around the waist is correct. I would even ignore zipper length and placement at this point.

Sounds like Vanson has turned into a Black Hole.....and PD, though a nice jacket, with so many variannces would constantly gnaw at me.

I'd like to see the same please... although just for reassurance since I've just sent them some of the correctly colored leather for stripes and the jacket measurements I'd prefer.

Hey Mantis, for some reason I thought you already had a Vanson... was that just a display jacket or something?

I have bought three vanson....many years ago when customer service and promises meant something. All have been sold off...:(

Yeck, that is terrible.

REALLY want to see Wested pics on someone we know....how about it? Help some brothers out in making decisions.

I've been away for the week, sorry I didnt manage to post any pics of the jacket before I left. The jacket has gone back to wested for a bit of repair work when I noticed that one of the seams on the pleats on the back had not been stitched together. I'm expecting it back tomorrow morning and will get some pics up then. (got myself a digital camera while I was away :D )

If I want to order the Wolverine jacket from Wested, what is the correct colored leather for stripes and the jacket ? can someone PM them to me :D

Thanks,
aljf :confused

Has there been a positive review of the pd collection jacket? I am really considering ordering one in the next week. I just do not like the colors of the Wested and since no one has posted pics I have decided against ordering it for the time being. TheMan, what was the final verdit on your pd? Is is worth getting just for an everyday jacket?

Greg

Gman - Like I said when I posted my pics above... The PD is a cool jacket, very tough looking, and my version is better than the standard they have on ebay as far as the details, but it is still not accurate. I will say their color choice is decent. If you're going to try to customize your order with them you'll want the same style color and the same sleeve zipper length as mine along with your chest pocket changes...

here are some pics of an actual Vanson an SHH member bought about 5 years ago back when they actually filled an order, and supposedly shots from Vanson of the OG before it went to studio.

Well, Vanson's jacket owns all other vercions available. Too bad the same can't be told about their costumer service.

Well, now I have seen two versions of the Vanson jacket. The one like in the first set of pics, and the version that is supposedly the original(I have my doubts about that). I guess this is a question for somebody like Mantis...Did vanson adjust their first design to be more accurate? Like making the collar tab round instead of squared off? And how about the trim on the zippers and sleeves? I have seen both with and without...should I have specified about these? I really prefer the brown around the zippers and at the cuffs. Of course this is assuming I will get my jacket eventually... Anyone got this type of info?

Cole over on SHH was glad to see we're interested in this jacket and sent me a PM with a bit more info that I said I'd be happy to relay... BTW KS my opinion on what I saw of the movie collar was a squared off end, but I like the look of either.

"--The differences between the original jacket which Vanson gave to the studio and mine are there because I wanted my jacked that way. I didn't like the red around the zipers on the chest and in between the sleeve zipers, so I told them to use the brown leather for this spots. (and because I knew I would never be able to put the jacket through the same massiv abuse the studio prob guys gave it to look this worn down)

My collar tab is square, like in the original jacket, it only appears a little different since I allways wear it closed so it does not get in my way.

Also I didn't have my jacked made out of the leather that was used on the original jacket. instead of that I used horse hide leather because the patina looks older and the surface is much more "alive". It's hard to explain, if you ever had a horse hide leather jacket in your hands you know what I mean.

Back in the day when I had this jacket made nobody knew it was Vanson that delifered it to the movie and Vanson didn't offer their WolfX jacket. I found out by calling them and asking if they ever had a jacket like the one in X1 in their programm, maybe some years ago. The answer was "Oh, we made that one especially for the movie. If you want one we can make you one as well". So back then this jacket was a total costum job and took a little more than 6 Month from geting the details streight to delivery here to germany. But Vanson told me it would take that long and they kept the timetable (more or less).

Anyone purchasing one of this jackets should be prepared for 3 years of preak-in period or come up with a way to give this jacket a massive dose of abuse without ruining it (my one came close to $ 900 which where about 1800,00 DM here so i never dared to sand it or stuff like that). Oh, the first view month will be hell, you will feel a little like beig entraped in a stiff corset but, hey, you'll feel save. --"

Guys - I've put my PD Wolve X1 jacket up on the bay along with some other Wolve gear if anyone is interested...

Wait, wait, whoa. They are using yellow-gold on my jacket instead of red, but I didn't know the pippings around the zippers were also colored. Does that mean I'm getting yellow lines around my zippers?

hmmm, I asked Vanson if there was another alternative of leather. They flat out said, "no." Bad, bad, Vanson.
