I just had to post this picture from Wested's auction of the Wolverine jacket....if the customer is always right then why don't you listen to them when they tell you your jacket is all wrong.....BY THE WAY, look how long the jacket is on this guy, WAAAAY to long, practically a leather dress....

Yes, yes I know.....Bitter, table for one. But this could have been so good.

I think the subtitle of this thread should read "info on these *infamous* jackets can go here." :p Besides the original makers, nobody else can get these quite right.

lol.
Knightsaber, you may be onto somthing with that place. That jacket looks like it could have been the base for the X3 one, the arm bands look to be almost exactly the same, aside from the colors of course.

I have dealt with Wested before and the ONLY way of communicating with them is CALLING THEM. They SUCK at email and your message never gets to the one making the changes.

This is the same argument with the Indy Jackets...if they would only change the original way they are making them, they wouldn't have so many custom orders...

My .02 cents...call them and fight through the accents .

Now, I'm focusing on the 4:30-6:00 time slot because Judianna Makovsky will be there. Perhaps if any one here is going on this day they could stop by and try to ask her who produced the jacket for X3, maybe she knows.. Just a thought. :)

MarasBlade, over on TFN has offered to ask Judianna Makovsky about the makers of the X3 jacket, if she gets a chance, as she was playing to stop by that station at Comic Con anyway. Hopfully this X3 jacket will finally be "put to rest". :p

Well I'm with Mantis on the bitching... I know it first hand.

received my PD custom jacket, and they did make two out of the 6+ changes I asked them to make.
The jacket does feel bulletproof when you put it on, but it's still way off on the little details.

I'll talking with Wested on getting a custom version of theirs done...since I do like it for the most part. I actually have the correct stripe color leather in an old broken-in jacket I found for $12 at a goodwill type store. Wested hasn't found the right color leather to use with their jacket yet, so I may just send them the leather I have to use for the accents.

2 out of 6 huh? Well, better than none I guess. Here's what I think would make the PD jacket a decent Wolverine replica. First, get rid of that rectangular stitching around the zippers (why are they even there?) Fix the zippers, meaning get rid of those "caps" on the top and bottom (same for the sleeves). Wider stripes on arms. And drop the distressed leather for the pilot brown. These all seem very simple and reasonable, but I guess it's hard when you're not working directly with the company, but through email/phone.

KS - yeah, those were all part of the change list I had, except for the pilot brown, since the original color I chose was Pilot Brown anyway...
Short of actually being there with them during the process, I'm not sure how much more directly I could be working out the details.
I'm sure Mantis went through the same with Wested... we've done all the design figuring, given excellent examples on the layout and measurements, as well as colors... and yet they're still not getting it. You would think these places that are advertising custom jackets to your specs and movie replica jackets would have the experience to just look at the good movie shots of any jacket and know basically how to put it together.

I would go straight to the source myself, but Vanson doesn't seem to put out jackets timely, and even their own jacket doesn't have the on-screen look without beating the hell out of it for a couple years... I've never liked the few pics I've seen of an actual Vanson yet, but maybe I haven't come across a good one yet either.

So far Wested is my favorite, with some adjustments I'd hope they can make of course. Hopefully I can work that out with them...

My Wested arrived last week and its the same length as the War of the Worlds jacket and such a nice fit.
Also I have to say, for anyone who's only bothered by the colour of the stripes, the picture they used on the auction doesnt even slightly match the colour they've used on the actual jackets (as explained to me when I purchased it) they're actually a faded yellow/orange. I'll try and get some pics up if I can ''liberate'' my room-mates digital camera :lol

THEMAN,

I think it looks pretty darn good, bud. May not be the most accurate jacket but still... pretty sweet. B) Just wondering, what changes did you request and which ones did they make?

I "pulled the trigger" for one of the PD jackets as well. The only change I requested was to leave the stitching off from around the front pockets and collar/zipper. I even went so far as to send them a pic pointing out what I wanted left off and they confirmed it in my order/email, so we'll see. ;) They say they're shipping it out this week so I'll post pics when it arrives.

-B89. :D

Guardian devil, does your Wested hang as low as this one pictured? or does it stop just below the belt line (as it should)....I was concerned about this pic from their auction that it hangs as low as the gluts....can't wait to see pics of yours. If the colors are right and cut is good then it definitely is worth the money.

Can't wait to see those pics either GDevil...

B89 - Yeah I requested that stitching be gone as well(the stiching actually is there to hold the pockets, I went as far as telling them the chest zippers are actually only vents so they could leave the pockets off entirely)
- also requested the back have no seem down the middle
- and to have those cups at the ends of the zippers left off
- and I had them change the shape of the waistline stripes
- and change the collar to the type I have here as apposed to the two piece they had originally
- and to lengthen the sleeve zippers to go to the elbow...
The actual changes they did make out of all that was the collar, the sleeve zipper length, and they slightly changed the waist stripe shape...So really they changed 2.5 out of the 6ish details that they agreed to get correct for my jacket.

B89 - if you didn't address any of these other issues with your order you will be ending up with something even less accurate, although still a beastly jacket, hopefully you will like yours... Mine is growing on me, but I'd still prefer something more accurate.

THEMAN, if you are still going to work with PD at all, I have a suggestion for you. Seems they can't get their heads around changing the X1 pattern...So maybe you coudl suggest that they just use their X3 pattern, and put the X1 details on. Three stripes on the sleeves, and the waist detail. Their X3 is a pretty solid design, and doesn't appear to have the stitching around the zippers. Just have to change the color of the jacket. What do you think?

KS - I have been thinking along those lines for a couple weeks now... but even the X3 needs a bunch of details changed for my taste other than just some color choices.
