Wolverine's Jackets

I guess for $300 I would have liked them to have been a little closer to the mark.....for Gods sake get the zippers right at least and the length of the jacket. Those two things will really throw off the look once you put it on.

Yeah I guess it would be nice to have something a little more accurate. At first sight it looked pretty good to me. I did instantly notice the color issue. But the other stuff was a bit harder for me to pick out (it WAS 12:30am). I find it surprising that there are these issues since you (MANTIS) gave them so much reference from the original. I didn't notice the length until you mentioned it. The jacket does drape a bit too far past the waist. As for the colors, I guess they went with a pre-distressed hide to give it a worn look. But I don't know where they got the stripe colors from. Are they like a beige/tan color? I do like the color combo, but as for screen accuracy, it's just wrong. At least they got the WoW jacket down.

So MANTIS, could you post some of your vanson jacket pics? I've been wanting to see the details on the REAL deal for a while. That pic you have on your site (same as above) is the best I've seen.

Yeah, the colors were the first thing I noticed too, hopfully that is just an early proto, and they don't plan on mass producing that jacket.

In my view the two companies have it wrong enough that although it is a nice jacket it is not a Wolverine jacket.....it will always be close but no cigar. people and especially collectors will look at it and go, "Yeah, I guess it sort of does look like a Wolverine jacket but...."

Vanson is still the one and only but maybe Wested will make the changes...I sent them a pretty pointed email today.....

Here is another Ebay Wolverine type jacket a little better . but not by much :unsure

I feel your pain Mantis, I went through the same thing with those PD guys... I do like what Wested came up with mostly... if only they used the PD stripe color, it would've been a bit more to my taste. My X1 is still on it's way, should be getting here in the next two days.

Dammit...well this sure sucks. I had high hopes for Wested given their reputation.

Yeah, my main problem with Wested's version is the colors they look too light.

Yea, I had high hopes for the Wested version, too. Aside from the color being off, I thought it looked too long as well. I sent them an email asking about it but never heard anything back.

And while we're talking about length, I noticed a while back when several peopled ordered jackets from Vanson, the length was too long on some of those as well. That seems to be a problem unless you are specific about it. At least P&D seems to be getting THAT right. ;)

Update: I just heard back from Wested. If you want to get their current jacket customized, overall length, custom fit and color, it's going to run about $295 plus shipping. However, given how well they followed David's instructions, I'd still be a little apprehensive. :unsure

Isn't $295 the price for their "normal" one? Why couldn't they just fix their original problems then they wouldn't have to "customize" every order. :rolleyes

Edit: I'll change the title of this thread to just plain wolverine jackets, because we are putting a lot of our info on the X1 and X3 jackets in here so it would make sense to just have one thread on all his jackets, maybe next we can get some stuff on that X2 jacket in here and we still have to figure out who did the X3 jacket.:p

The price they quoted me for the one on thier site was $258.87 :rolleyes But I agree, they should fix the one they're offering.

I really hope we can convince Wested to change their designs so we don't all have to customize the jackets.
I'm gonna go ahead and write them too.

I have not heard back from Wested...I think they realize they goofed and I have probably become a thorn in their side.

I implore you to write them but don't just focus on color:

Length needs to be brought up...should come at waist NOT thight.
Stripes AND jacket wrong color.
Zippers way to high on the jacket.
Collar should not be squared but rounded.

I have heard rumor they simply took another patter and slapped some striped on it...I dont doubt it at this point.

As I mentioned already, despite its innacuracies I quite like this jacket and have ordered myself one. Obviously not for the fact its a "replica" of Wolverines lol... but I'll be getting a vanson in the near future and would probably get another wested if they put it all right, but its nice for the time being. I was told it might differ slightly from the one pictured and when I told them what I ordered for my War of the Worlds jacket I was told it would be exactly the same fit so to give them exactly the same measurements, so I'm willing to bet thats what they slapped the different stripes on.

Well, this isn't exactly a great match, but it's the best I've seen for a lead on the X3 jacket. www.rideicon.com Go to 'products' - 'jackets'- check out the "pursuit" jacket. I saw an ad in a motorcycle magazine and the stripe pattern caught my eye. So I checked the website when I got home. Might be worth checking out.
