Wolverine's Jackets

It looks like there is a semi-accurate X3 jacket out there now...I believe that it is from the company that THEMAN is working with...

Ah yeah just seen that. Its not too bad
[/b]

No, it's really not bad at all. Now if the RPF members who want one could get around the whole auction thing, that would be cool... I know from personal experience that that jacket will probably go for close to what a Vanson costs... which is really too bad for those bidders who just don't know.

Yeah, that one does look ok, not very accurate but decent... I kept telling him that an X3 version would be easy to do off the X1 I was getting them to do for me... I guess they got it together. They also sent out my X1 version to me, should arrive next week, but I'll be away so you gents won't get pics until the following week when I return... I'm hoping they got it all right this time, but he failed to snap pics of it before sending so I don't know if I should take that as a bad sign.

I did send them an email back on what kind of break they'd give me if I got a minimum order of 10 together, hopefully it'll be a decent discount. :love

P&D will sell directly to people WITHOUT an auction for $165 a jacket....so there is no reason for people to dog pile on the auctions....you just need to contact them.

What innacuracies are on the X3 jacket?

Is that seam around the top there? I remember someone pointing that out when the movie came out.
Also, The Mantis are you referring to the X3 jacket which is on ebay? I was looking at it they had a retail value at over $400.

Well, I think they put "Retail Value $465" on there to drive up aution bids. As for accuracty, it's not bad but a few elements are a bit off. Most obvious are the stripes. The actual movie jacket has stipes that only go about half way around, maybe a little more. The vents are a little low and out from the center, and the cut is a little off too I think. Also, the brown they use might be a bit lighter.

Also with the stripes going half way around they actually go from the front sleeve seam to the back seem that runs down the length of the arm. Also on the sleeves I don't believe the zipper is correct either.
The back on the movie jacket is made from one larger piece I believe, whereas the PD has multiple pieces seemed together.
And Knightsaber is right on the front vent zippers as well.
But it's still good for the money.
They responded to me already, they'll actually do $160 per jacket plus shipping if we do a minimum of 10 jackets at a time.

LogansRunner - it doesn't have that small hard to see shoulder seem either, but that's not a huge impact for most.

Damn, we are an anal group huh? :)

Could it be they are making the innacuracies on purpose to avoid the whole design copywrite issue? I think all of their 3 jackets look hideous, but it could just be the pics.

That's always a posibility, but honestly, I think they try not to alter their patterns too much from what they already have. I've noticed that all of their jackets have the seam down the middle of the back. It probably also helps to keep the cost down.

Saw this pic and remembered someone asking if there was even the zippers on the cuffs of the jacket, not sure if it was this site that asked though. Anyways, from the pic you can clearly see the zipper on the cuff. :)

Good pic, haven't seen that one before. So does anybody have any updates? Any news on the wested version, mantis? Have they sent you the swatches yet?

How about PD's X1? I think THEMAN will have pics for us next week. Anybody bother to pick up their X3 version on ebay?

And last but definitely not least, Guntakehla, get your Vanson yet? I know it's been a long time for you and must be frustrating. Almost a year later now and still waiting. At least you know it's getting done now. Ordered mine about a month ago now, so I'm just waiting patiently.

For PD's X3 I think THEMAN said that you can just order from them directly for about $165. So I might just wait a little while longer to pick one up. Though I think it says limited edition on their advertisments. Do you think that is real or just so more people will buy them?

Also, someone pointed out that the back of their X3 jacket has seams on the back, well I was looking at their Cyclops jacket and it also has the same seams too. My guess is they try to use the same pattern to keep the prices down, like someone pointed out earlier.

I guess PD went ahead with their current X1 jacket on ebay. I'm guessing this is the first version they did for THEMAN...??? The same as in the thread over in the props section. Not quite sure what's going on there. I know they did have a jacket called the "wolf" that simulated but did not match the X1 jacket's details. Looks like they just used that pattern, put three stripes on the arms instead of the big cuff thing, and adjusted the waist stripes...still WAY off. I sure hope they fixed the details on the jacket they sent to THEMAN. We shall see.

Holy crap. Wested has Wolverine jackets on ebay...

:D

The vents look a bit high and the collar tab looks squared off instead of round. The overall pattern looks good, just a tad off I think (not sure never seen a Vanson in person). Stripe color is off to I think. But hell, I'd buy it if my Vanson wasn't already being made.

Ugggh, they listened to NOTHING I said to them....I sent measurements, pics, and even colors....this jacket is wrong wrong wrong:

1) way too long
2) stripes around waist are wrong
3) color of jacket is wrong
4) color of stripes is wrong
5) zippers are wrong, too long and too high
6) color is to low profile

uggggh.

This is what it should look like:

They do have a tendancy to do that, I remember a similar experience trying to get a Mission Impossible 2 (motorcycle chase scene) jacket out of them, turns out they got all confused and didnt even do a mission impossible 2 jacket, after suggesting they could make me one I provided all sorts of information and ended up with a slight variation to their Mission Impossible jacket (which I didnt keep), but it made me wonder if they'd even read my emails.? :lol

Ah well, despite its problems, I actually quite like it

I guess for $300 I would have liked them to have been a little closer to the mark.....for Gods sake get the zippers right at least and the length of the jacket. Those two things will really throw off the look once you put it on.
