Woah...Corey Haim dead.

Wow - as somebody who watched 'Corey & Corey', their reality show from last year, and who saw how messed up he was, I was still shocked to see the headline this morning.

Sad end for him.

I am with street judge on this one. It is bad to speak ill of the dead, but honestly, should I care about a guy who did something 20 years ago and nothing since?
Should you be personally affected on an emotional level...perhaps not.
Should you at least think it's not a good thing on an intellectual basis...definitely.

"No loss" shows a despicable lack of human empathy that does not become someone in the police force.

Hey a lot of folk here think it's no loss that a 24 year old mother of two be left to die because she has a problem with drugs too.

On an emotional level: OMG! What a tragedy, that susch a young person, with so much to live for, has lost the precious gift of life.

On an intelectual level: Yeah? What was lost? A good person? A fine role model for young people? An artist knowm for his fine works? No, just a wasted punk.

Aren't you more shocked that he lived this long?

Yes, I am shocked he made it this far, but his lack of contribution in the industry (or apparently to humanity as a whole) in the past 20 years doesn't lessen the fact that human life was lost and all human life has value.

Should you care that he died? Not necessarily as you probably didn't know him and he probably didn't play a very big role in impacting your life. When I go, I don't expect those who didn't know me to be too upset.

Should one consider it "no big loss"? Well, that just seems disrespectful as well as distasteful and in my mind is quite a bit different from simple apathy as it devalues the worth of the life that was lost.

EDIT: And once again, Treadwell beat me to it... and with fewer/more concise words!

Totally agree.

No, it's a loss for sure, and a very sad one at that. Nevertheless, a totally different situation, the whys of which have already been discussed ad nauseam elsewhere and it has no place in this thread. Isn't that called baiting?

Always sad when one of the Celebs goes out like this.

I was hoping he could pull up and out before he crashed and burned. :(

Sad, but not surprising. I know how hard it is to kick drugs, but to do it with the whole world watching must be a million times harder.

There is a saying that goes "If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all". That works for posting too.

Unfortunately, the internet has unleashed an era that supports the opposite line of thinking: if you've got something cruel to say, belt it out... because nobody can punch you in the face for being a ****** bag. People that say nice things are quicky run out of town for being "lemmings" and whimps.

With that said, I still think it's a tragedy. And not because he was an actor, or because he was famous. It's a tragedy when ones demons claim victory, and take your life as the prize.

Though Corey Haim wasn't the model citizen, he holds a place in my heart for the rolls he played in: License to Drive, Lost Boys, Lucas, Silver Bullet.

He obviously wasn't an amazing actor but he is apart of americana in the 80's and will be missed by his friends, fans and family.

I watched the 2 Coreys and I always felt that this day would come. He was in denial and had a lot of friends trying to help him. Very sad and I feel sorry for Corey Feldman as he had to cut his ties with CH for his own sake.

Eloquently and nicely said Matt.

Now get on that Bike and give me 50 miles you scum-bag! ;) :D :p

I met Haim at a convention Spookey Empire Horror Convention about 2 years ago...and even taking pics and signing stuff he we Messsed UP! his handler said hes been popping pills all morning taking breaks just to pop um. I think he said he was on 4 Vicodin at the time...he was nice though,.

It is a sad loss...he was talented.

While I don't condone that celebrities/people in general resort to drugs and feel sometimes like they are a waste of life, I myself have thankfully never had to deal with addictions such as this so I am really not one to say anything. But as for people's comments about "no big loss", I find that heartless. Perhaps if he had done some terrible things to others, like kill someone, etc, I might feel that it was "no big loss", but as far as I know, his drug problem never affected others in such a drastic way. Sure other's lives are affected when someone does drugs or other addictive habits, but not in the same way.

My ex-wife was friends with him and just talked to him last week on the phone. She called me this morning and told me the news.
I never met him but she said he was really cool, very gracious, and a very nice guy.

No big loss is a pretty messed up thing to say. They guy had friends and family. It's a sad thing when someones life is overtaken by drugs and they never get out of that rut and end up in the grave. 38 years old isn't a long life by any means and it's a shame he never got control.

Couldn't have said it better myself.
