So I was thinking about the Enter memory nodules. Can anyone suggest where I might source the white, grey part?

Are we saying PMMA, acrylic?

I'm up for giving it a shot

As promised here are the measurements in both inches and millimeters (in parenthesis) of the Enterprise Data Cartridges:

If the "Enterprise" data cartridge run proceeds I will offer at the same time the "Enterprise" data interface consoles that were seen all over the bridge and other areas of the ship in seasons 3 & 4. These are the units that the data cartridges slide into. I have the completed graphics for both versions (there were basically only two versions; the left and right hand version) completed from measurements taken directly off of the set piece. They are accurate as possible. The below photo is what I am talking about. If the "Enterprise" data cartridges go forward I will start an interest thread on these if anyone wants them.

^ Awww yeah. Would be really cool to get one of those, fill it with cartridges, and light it up!

And there's a definite HAL 9000 logic memory center vibe to the ENT cartridges.

Yes it is; that photo was taken with a flash. I just took this photo with my phone with no flash.

I'm in the process of buying a laser cutter / engraver... And doing isolinear chip was really close to the first thing I want to do... Thanks to google to get me to this amazing thread !

I had a question regarding the white label. What finish are the original one ? Regular mailler label, or some 'glossy' finish ? I would imagine a more glossy/vinyl finish to look better with the acrylic.

Also, wouldn't it look better if we laser engrave the place for the label so the whole iso chip remain flat ? But I guess that wouldn't be screen accurate...

I'm really surprised how the white part of the data module lights up. What I've ever materials i end up using, will need to be just the right density for light to pass through.

I'd recommend Matt, but experiment and see what you like. The original labels where floppy disk labels and then custom made paper ones. Which I think might have been matt.

Yes they transmit light very well although in the photo is looks like a nuclear reactor; it's not that bright!! I have ordered a half dozen different samples of material that looks promising. The light transmission is the key to making this replica look right and I am going to try to find a suitable material. Will keep you updated on what I find.

Completely right! They were matt, not glossy, since glares are unwanted during filming and were made of custom adhesive paper label.

I need some help in the color / type of acrylic to use for the Isolinear chip.

It was mentioned to use Fluorescent Acrylic... I got sample of green color and it look nothing like some of the screen capture I've seen.

What did you end up using Hiddenevil ?

I found myself a supplier who stocked some of the colours that where a close match to the originals and i'm currently working on finding the rest. One thing to keep in mind is that the originals where silk screened. Which probably attributed to the colour which would have been chosen in house.

Have you found that the reflective acrylic to be necessary or it create too much reflection ? From my small sample, it feel like reflective acrylic to be really too bright on the edge and the engraved spot to be looking like the original one.

Can you share the acrylic model you used ? Maybe there an distributor of the same model in canada I can go get some sample.

Visited 2 shop yesterday... Will try to call more tomorrow

They probably got the high reflective just so that they would show up on camera better. To your eye it might look a little much.

Here the only color sample I got my hand on that transparent :

The second row, the first 2 blue looking good... The rest not so much.

The first top row are fluorecent acrylic... I personally don't think that what they used on the show. The border will create high brightness and I don't think I've ever noticed it in the snow. The original one look more like the 2 blue on second row.

I'll keep searching for more supplier next week !
