pvc model (top) used to get an idea of the length and angle. Below it are the start of the 2 sabers.

Sabers will be able to be attached at the bottom to form 1 long saber.

1 saber in hand.

Looking good.

I've been thinking about making these myself, the biggest problem is how to connect them so you can pull them apart quickly... I was thinking some sort of cork or rubber in one end, but it was sort of a passing thought.

Hope to see some amazing props soon.

Nice start. I have a couple of these on the "to do" list - stuck in storage a few thousand miles away. I found some curved PVC pipe one time that seemed perfect, and put them aside for the project. I was always a bit unsure how to make the connection for putting them together as one, so I'll be watching you and taking notes. :)

Looking cool :)

We have a girl in the UKG who does a wicked Asaaj so let me know if these ever are going to be made for others

Neodymium (rare Earth) magnets

Excellent start. Since the sabers flair at the connectible end that would be a great mount for rare earth magnets.

The fun thing with this lightsaber is that everyone has a unique interpretation of it... :angel

I think some kind of twist-lock would be best for holding them together.

Magnets are a great idea, I never considered of that. It isn't like they will be joined for any real combat or even joined often, but I wanted the option (it would just bug me if I could not do it :D )
Thanks for the suggestion - Now if I can just save up enough money (i.e. stop buying things from the JY :angel ) to get my stuff shipped from L.A. to Alabama I can get started on them. :confused

these first ones i'm only gonna do the hilt. then i'm going to look for larger tubing and buy the electronics and blades to do a full saber.

I like the fact that i can be a little creative and mix and match the pics i've seen of the sabers since there is no "screen accurate" saber.

Well, you can fit a Luxeon blade in a 3/4 inch pipe if you do it carefully. I'm not sure if you can do it with the sort of emitter the Asajj sabers have, but it shouldnt be impossible.

I've been thinking about the connection, and I agree with the twist connection. It'll be harder to do, but it will hold straight, unlike magnets, and you could swing it around.

Are you using EMT for these? I'm an electrician and have always thought that 1.25" EMT would be great to make sabers with (and cheap, since I get it for free. :) ), but the finish on them leaves something to be desired.

I bent a piece about a year back to try and make a Dooku, but I couldn't get the finish to look right at all. :(
