Ok.....still waiting on the chain from China, takes forever. I went over the castings and i realized the original master had a few flaws. The top right portion was very thin and during clean up of the casting, it would get even thinner. I did a ton of bondo work to smooth things poor and even up the thickness of the circle area. Here are done completed castings one is gloss one is flat. Not sure which is correct. I also made the jump rings from galvanized wire then soldered the ends together to make a solid ring
Flat:
Thanks guys, I'm trying to complete ten of them before i post in the jy. So how do you think the black portion should be? Flat or glossy? I'm also working out the magnet to hold the key in place rather than glue it in. Would this be a better option?

Id say whatever finish is more screen accurate. I like the Gloss but it looks like the Matte might be the way to go.
As for the Key, adding magnets would be a cool bit of added magic to an already mystical Medallion.
I don't know which is more accurate but I think glossy looks nicer. I finally worked out the magnets for the key. I'm using 1mm x 2mm magnets. two holes drilled into the front of the medallion and two holes drilled into the back of the key. magnets glued in place and painted over. it hold the key really well but tried swinging the medallion with a little force and the key fell off. for wearing our display it hold fine though. if it needs to hold tight I could always add more magnets. a stronger hold you risk prying the key out and risk scratching the surface though. here are some pics:

this is not the final product.....after this pic I resanded and polished this one. still waiting on ticket chain as well.
Wow....lol. been working on these forever. I made 9 of them. I originally used two magnets but it looks like I need the to hold it really well. After a cost a black enamel, I stayed it with automotive clear coat. Produced an amazing finish. I have three chains. I weathered them with black enamel and thinner, with a clear coat.
