I'm working on a very accurate version of Marion's letter from KotCS. I started out using the images from the forums but am slowly either replacing them with my own or reworking/improving existing ones. I've already been working on this for about a week but I still have a lot of changes to make.
I found a Peruvian Airmail envelope on eBay which matched the screen used prop and even the chevrons lined up. So I used that as my size basis. While working on this prop I noticed that two different props existed. Everthing is positioned slightly differently on both and some elements look quite different. The address labels for example are both handwritten so are not identical. One of the stamps is even upside down on one of the props.
Other details I noticed while working on this was that two of the stamps look quite odd. They look like they have a dot matrix pattern like you would find on newspaper print, so I did my best to replicate that too.
I'm working in Photoshop so it's done in layers meaning I can print the envelope with ink postage marks, then print the stamps and labels separetely, cut them out and stick them on. This will make the postage marks look especially realistic.
Once I'm happy with the envelope I'll see if I can move on to the letter. I've already done an improved Mutt & Oxley photo. I don't think I would be able to improve on the map/diagrams already created by other members though!
If I ever get this finished I might offer them for sale complete and ready to display
