WIP 95% Complete Foam Clone Trooper Pepakura-Slightly pic heavy

Hey Guys,

I've been looking for a Commander Fox style pepakura helmet. I'm going to try and build a set of armor for my son, who is 6, and he wants to be S4 Commander Fox. I found a guy on Deviant Art selling pep files(Commander Cody not Fox, but could be modified to Fox) and wanted to know if anybody had bought from him or if he might be a member of The RPF. Here is a link to the page http://sanek94ccol.deviantart.com/art/Pepakura-files-for-payment-Clone-Trooper-Phase-II-381201838. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Thank you,
Noah

Or if anybody knows of another place to get a Commander Fox pep, that would be cool too;D I have Fierfek's Clone Trooper pep file, but noticed there are some differences between it and Commander Fox's. I would also have to fabricate the visor, which I'm willing to do, but would prefer one already made to fit the helm.

Re: Clone Trooper Pepakura

I think I'm going to go with Fierfek's Clone helm pep and modify it to look a little more like Commander Fox's helm. The head opening seems really small though (even for my 6yr old)? Anybody used this pep as a wearable helm? Figure I can trim the opening down a little if I have to. I'll try and do this as a WIP, but I'm horrible at remembering to take pics;D

Re: Clone Trooper Pepakura

Alright, I started on the dome last night. Here's what I've done so far:

First I downloaded Pepakura Designer the free version, but if this build goes well I'll probably buy the keycode. Then I downloaded Fierfeks Clone Trooper Helmet file. It's set for A4 so the first thing was to change the paper from A4 to letter. Then I had to move each piece around to fit on the pages and came up with this:
IMG_20150126_161107321.jpg

I wanted to start on the dome, so I printed out all the dome parts (if you click a section of the 3D model it will highlight that piece on the 2D side) onto some 110lb card stock. It was 8 pages all together I think. I started with this page (pic 1), cut it out with scissors and cut all the solid lines with scissors (pic 4), scored all the dotted lines with my Xacto and folded (pic 5) and finally glued it together (pics 2 & 3).

All materials, so far, were bought at Wal-Mart. That's all I have so far, but let me know what you think. This is going to be more for sizing than anything so I didn't change the scale in the pep model. Let me know what you guys think. I would certainly appreciate some feedback and/or some tips and tricks;D

Re: Clone Trooper Pepakura

I got a couple more pieces done last night. Cut, fold, glue. Cut, fold, glue. Cut, fold, glue finger to paper:D

Still have to do the mohawk and the back part of the dome. I'm working two jobs right now, so I don't have much time to do anything on the weekdays. Hopefully I'll be able to do a lot more this weekend.

Re: Clone Trooper Pepakura

Hmm, depending on how much accuracy you want, you might couldt use the clone captain rex Files provided by BSD and optimized for foam by jfcustom, i do actually build Thor and iron man for My Boys and can say the Files are easy to use, also build some of the rex Files for My self a while ago, with a Bit of practice it is Not too hard to do.

Re: Clone Trooper Pepakura

Thanks man! I actually have those Rex files and am using them for the armor;D I reduced them by 40% and that seemed to work pretty good. I'm not going for 501st accuracy or anything, but want it to be pretty close. I tried to convince him to do S1 Fox, but no dice:/ Thanks for the response! Got to looking at Rex's helm again. I could probably modify his "eyes" to match Fox's helm and doing it in foam would be a huge time and money saver:D

Re: Clone Trooper Pepakura

Youre welcome, i've found out that you can modify the knee Part of the shin by disjoining the faces to Match the season 2 knees

Re: Clone Trooper Pepakura

Started on the foam helmet, but I think I did something wrong. I have a lot of gaps. I ran out of foam so I only got the "respirator" part done, but will be picking up more foam tomorrow;D

Re: Clone Trooper Pepakura

Still haven't got anymore foam, but did some more pep work. I have the whole dome section done. The foam was definitely easier and faster, but not sure how well I'll be able to fill in the gaps. Anybody had any luck with a foam filler? Here's some progress pics (Poe the Cat was sleeping so I had to set it on him, he didn't budge;D):

Re: Clone Trooper Pepakura

The tricky hing is to cut ankles if needed dont Know wkind kind of foam youre using and how thick it is, but i Know that jfcustom uses campingmats wich normally around 6mm thick, so ill guess his templates are optimized dir foam something between 5 to 7mm. Your respirator looking very good

I try to add some Photos of the iron man Hand thor build i actually Do for My Boys on the weekend

Re: Clone Trooper Pepakura

Thanks man! I was hanging drywall this past weekend so I didn't get much done costume wise. Pics are horrible, but I'll try and post some more later. Still working on the pep helm, but I'm not giving up on the foam.

Scooped this up at Walmart on Friday for $20. Its 46"L x 93"W x 0.28"H so about 7mm thick:

Re: Clone Trooper Pepakura

Here's some pics of the armor. Still need to do some filling in, but it doesn't look too bad. It obviously needs paint and I still have to do a test fit it to make sure it fits okay.

Re: Clone Trooper Pepakura

Got some more armor pics. Going to try and finish the abs and belt this weekend. Maybe do some more on the helm.

Re: Clone Trooper Pepakura

Holy crap that's awesome man! Sorry its been so long since I've posted. I do have a few updates though. I started using a thinner foam for the helm and it worked out much better thanks for the advice. Here's some pics:

And some more pics:

I took your advice Corim and used JFCustoms foam file for Captain Rex and used a thinner foam. It worked great! I just had to change the shape of Captain Rex's eye lens to Commander Fox's lens. I found the visor at Harbor Freight. I still need to modify it by adding the longer sides and making the "strap" part longer, but it was actually really close to the right shape and was only $5:D I still have some armor to make and of course it still needs paint;D But I'm pretty happy with the progress so far.
