Willem Dafoe GREEN GOBLIN HELMET on the cheap by Rehauling an Xcoser Helmet!

Hey Everyone! I have spent alot of time looking into Raimi Goblin Helmet replicas and, there's not many option, you can buy a $300 3d printer and a $30 stl file, you can spend a Thousand on an etsy one, most being slightly inaccurate, or, you can spend 80 bucks on an old Xcoser goblin mask and just make the rest of the helmet little by little.

I Discovered the Xcoser mask in around 2016 when I was 12 and was really disappointed, it was distractingly inaccurate and 80 bucks looked like 800 to me at that age, so I said no way!
As years have gone by I have gotten into DIY and Homemade props, Repainting toys to look accurate, and at 18, I am very well versed in how to cut away and easily replace parts of a faulty toy, Rehauling.
With the addition of purchasing the Raimi Trilogy in 4k this January and now Release of no way home , I HAVE DAFOE FEVER!!! I once again scoured the internet and have decided to rehaul the Xcoser mask into a fully accurate and functional Helmet, there is an incredible amount to do, but it will be worth it, I have always preferred to Rehaul something cheap rather than spend several hundred dollars on something already completed.

MASK HAS ARRIVED!!!!
It's exactly what I prepared for, a great base with minor issues, lots of things to fix but the amount of things right with the "helmet" takes away so much of the work I would have to do if I were Scratch building, especially the ears and eyebrows which are 98% accurate and if I scratch built them they would be 60% accurate.

The mask arrived misshapen and cracked down the chin, I was prepared for this to happen and quickly glued and heated the face for fixing, here it is

Went to walmart about a week ago and got some cheap glasses, the shade of yellow is EXACT the polarization effect is PERFECT , they just barely fit inside the eye frames of the helmet.

I plane to make 2 lenses, 1 transparent yellow to replicate the goblin scenes at the bugle, on the rooftop, and during the final battle.
And the normal reflective ones,

I may just glue the reflective ones under the transparent ones but I also want retractable versions and the lenses need to be flatter for the to work, otherwise they would jam into my forehead like one of those horned warthogs

this is gonna look really good. I've been eyeing an Xcoser on amazon for about a month now, so maybe now is the time to take the plunge

I don't know about using this to recreate the movie look, because the proportions are off. The face looks pretty good, but the ears and hood don't go back as far as they should. However, I think this would be great to make a slightly more comic-accurate look. I think if you trim off the hood bits, leaving the face and ears intact; you could wear a purple hood to cover the rest of your head, not unlike Hobgoblin or Norman's grandson (think Willem Dafoe in No Way Home, but with a mask). Just a thought.

Heres what you can do cut away bits of the mask and add pepakura pieces from a pepakura template a bit like what this guy did with his vader helmet here (Darth Vader ROTS Helmet WIP from Hasbro Mask and Pepakura) and heres the FREE file I found for goblin (Papercraft .pdo file template for Spiderman - Green Goblin.) Lucky for you they have things that are equally good and bad so a mix of the two will be almosr perfect.

Here is a free version of the file. You could have it printed through one of those 3D printing services. Can't imagine it would cost more than the X-coser mask. Green Goblin Helmet by TMBort
One drawback to that model, is that it doesn't appear to include the back of the helmet. Here's one that does, but it's only free for a limited time. (I think they'll always have a few free models, but each is only available for a limited time) So download it quick, before it's gone, so you'll at least have the option.

I have been cutting into the mask and reshaping pretty extensively, the proportions are completely fixed and I am currently filling and sculpting new parts

I saw a comically oversized christmas light at goodwill and bought it immediately for the back of the helmet,
With the new nose and beaks as well as the new proportions from heating and elongating the mask it just screams iconic shots from spider-man 2002 everytime I see it

In case anyone is wondering how accurate my sources are, I have 132 images from bts, screen grabs, and screen used props, I have some images of replica helmets but those are purely for ideas

Here's how the lenses work,
The originals could've worked but they are too dark (I will use them for a black series Vader helmet instead)
So I cut open a smart water bottle, apple juice jugs are also great for tasm 2 lenses,
There Is a gap at the edge of sockets where the sunglasses cut off, so i will just puts some metal tape under and color them to match

Yeah no It was always the plan to do the back and reshape the face entirely

I understand people wanting to look out and be skeptical of certain things, especially when I hadn't yet elaborated on what I was gonna do and how much I had prepared, but,
I have taken into account every possibility, every option, every route,
I know what i want to do and how i want to do it,
I actually haven't looked at any replies until logging on an hour ago for the first time in a week, I realize now I should post progress regularly instead of waiting a week doing a dump of everything I've done, that way I can catch any advice and reassure any skeptics

I apologize if my comment seemed overly negative, but the mask is looking awesome! I can't wait to see it completed!

Chameleon paint will either arrive tonight or tomorrow by lunchtime, it is the Testors' emerald turquoise for now, I am skeptical that the color shift won't have enough purple so if it ends up like that I will also buy 'purple fog'

Even thought It's not completely accurate I have started to really dig the imagery of the TJackFX/Portugeek/El Fett goblin mask and they use Testors 'green copper',
When I look at my mask I notice the beak invokes the TJack mask a little more than the actual one, a welcome alteration.
My only gripe with the el fett mask is that the forehead is noticeably more pronounced
(Compared to actual helmet 4th to last image)
