Does anyone make an accurate looking aluminum Kobold D-ring part for the Luke ESB saber??

YH are no casts, but machined and pretty accurate IIRC.

BTW: Why are you selling a Linhof with accurate REAL mount and start looking for a REPRO parallely ;) ?!

I think yodashouse has castings, but can't be sure.

On the website, the YH ones look great. The ones I got yesterday are heavy and rough. :unsure They look diecast. I'm going to see if I can clean one up and brush it to look milled. If not....

....I may not sell the Linhof. But I hate to take that one part off a $100 flash tube.... :wacko

Unfortunately the YH is slightly too narrow, as it is machined from a standard size brass stock. The original is also painted brass. Though, even the originals have their machining flaws so I don't think you can fault John there. As far as dimensions goes, I believe the aluminum parks one is the closest you can get.

Do what I did: put the real ones on your sabers and put replicas on the flash guns LOL!

I can live with my life size Luke and Han's droid callers being attached to their belts with repros :)

That is not a bad idea.... :lol

Luke's ANH droid caller is missing the bracket so you can take one off that. The D-ring on Luke's is actually through the bulb cover (or at least attached at that point on the Kobold).

I meant to bring this up earlier, but if anyone has Star Wars Blueprints: The Ultimate Collection you should already know.

The problem with doing this is that it will most likely wind up in the hands of someone seeking to own a complete original flash tube. Even if you disclose this in your sale or trade, somewhere down the line someone won't. Remember, this could happen to any of us! :eek

That's not the first owner's problem. Besides, you can always check because the replicas have an extra hole in them. I've seen a few people swap those bracket pieces over the years.

Obviously the owner should disclose that the bracket is a replica if they decide to sell it later, but to say the person shouldn't do what they want with their own property now because someday someone else might lie about it is silly.

Similar things happen in this hobby all the time. Hopefully the sellers are ethical, but it's also up to the buyer to do their homework.

Okay... I did a little work on my YH clip tonight.

It's really thick paint on mine that made it look so rough!

I took off the paint, and filed off some of the brass flash and it looks MUCH better. I'll respray and it should be usable. If I tapped the middle hole it would be pretty darn close.

I compared it to my Linhof. Outer dimensions are spot on. The slot is too narrow and too thin. My Linhof reflector will not slide fit into the slot.
