Who builds sabers anymore?

What I really want to do is a Hardware Dooku, since apparently nobody at all does that. Not even a machined copy.

Actually some one just made this on the forums at www.thecustomsabershop.com

You can read more about the build here http://forums.thecustomsabershop.com/showthread.php?t=4028&page=18

What constitutes a build? All of my sabers are fan-made.

Great question, great input.
The only "set" guidelines are that you constructed it mostly by yourself, whether or not you bought the parts.
Then, of course, there is the part about scratch-building.

I completely forgot about this thread since I have been away, but WOW, am I amazed at how it took off, and what I have seen here!!!!!

INCREDIBLE WORK. I am blown away at some of the artisanship I have seen.

Upgraded my Vader ESB/ROTJ hero yesterday by adding the blue wire, real Exactra strip and circuit board plus grip screws. Also upgraded my ESB Luke sabers (Dagobah and Wampa cave) with real Kobold attachments.

I have 2 custom built sabers and a 3rd on the way, as well as im working on a Shoto Saber, using a heiland 2 cell. I dont have pics yet tho.

Kylash, that is one SWEET build, and very original.

Kurt, did I miss something while on another hiatus? Vader ESB/ROTJ hero saber??? Blue wire, Exactra strip AND a circuit board? I'm just a little confused.... :wacko

In this thread here: http://www.therpf.com/showthread.php?t=40270 member d3po2u posted pics of what is assumed to be the hero ESB/ROTJ Vader saber. A few new discoveries were made by examining the pics.

LOL! I was in the same boat as you. Was away from the board for a few weeks then came back and found that thread and was like "WOAH!" :lol

Yeah man, that was a fun thread. Calc bubbles WITH the circuit board under them. AND they pried the clamp open to get it to fit... who'd a thunk?
Back on topic.
I havent build a hardware saber in years. Sometimes I get the urge to, just for fun. But...:unsure

Get off your lazy arse then, Derek. ;)

Hey, here's a challenge for you (or ANYONE) - IT IS 10:15 CENTRAL TIME ON MAY 31, 2008.

Go build a saber in 2 hours or less.

My local Lowes is closed for the night... Or else... >.>
I was in the plumbing section yesterday looking for brass tubing.. they didnt have it.

Well, it was kinda intentionally meant to be spur-of-the-moment, build with what you have available..... ;)

Guess it isn't happening tonight, but I DO want to try for this again.

machined these out of solid aluminum rounds and milling aluminum tubing. took bout 2 years with various changes in designs and time to do it while balancing other things. saber chucks

Got the Darkwoman and Tyvokka in the Junkyard now and am working on a Tra' Saa, Asajj Ventress set, Tholme and a Volfe Karko.

I didn't know what to do with my Canon Flash until I saw tingjunkies version he did. This is the Model-Y which has the dial so it's a bit difficult to make work. Still a ways to go.
