Where to start; making a Kroenen costume?

Just got back from a friends house who went as Hell Boy last year with the idea of making a Kroenen costume. (He's huge, I am not so huge!) Where would or do you start collecting the right uniform parts? I googled and found several makers; who do you Kroenen experts recommend?

Doc....there's a plethora of repro WW2 German uniform/equipment vendors out there. Some definitely better than others....sent ya a PM.
