Regal Robot has sold through 100 out of 150 ANH gaffi sticks in the first 45 minutes. There is definitely demand.
Not surprised. It’s beautiful and has lineage. I have no issues with their pricing. They know very well what they can sell them for. I will just always selfishly want things to be cheaper so I can afford them. Hah.Regal Robot has sold through 100 out of 150 ANH gaffi sticks in the first 45 minutes. There is definitely demand.
JetSetWilly said:Well I don’t remember that. Not saying he didn’t but I don’t remember. What I do remember was that he had made resin copies of a totokia and sold them back in 2005. The old offer thread is gone but you can find references to it here: https://forum.rebelscum.com/threads/gaffi-sticks-for-sale.957319/
I’ll give you $1000 right now if you can make me a full sized wooden and steel replica of the ANH gaffi stick based off of a direct scan of the original in the archives, produce it in the USA, all under full license from Lucasfilm. If you can’t do that, I don’t see how this would be any sort of comparison to Regal Robot’s offering.Hell I can offer one out of real wood that comes with either a steel or plastic end (depending on your safety concerns) for 1k a piece. Half the price and better made. I will even include an exclusive plaque signed by me just for this run.
It will read, "Mr. Iscrew Younow!" Limited 200 Edition All will be #1 so everyone is the same.
Equity, It's fan tastic. See what I did there? Fan Tastic.
Let me know if you are interested and I will get started.

And I was just pointing out that you aren’t taking many key things into account, so perhaps their pricing isn’t absurd. Unless you can show a breakdown of their costs to produce exactly what they are offering and prove that their actual profits are “absurd” you don’t really have a leg to stand on.Ya got me, although I NEVER said it had lineage to the original or was licensed.
There are 25 left so please go order.
"With hands-on access to the original film prop artifacts and high resolution 3D scanning"
Notice it does not say access to the original Gaffi stick that I have never seen an existing picture of. I don't think it is in the archives, so what "Artifacts" did they have access to and what did they scan. It is also resin. If it's worth it to you go nuts.
I was just pointing out how absurd their prices are, but also pointed out that if people are willing to pay it, and they are, more power to them.

The Rancor keeper's ROTJ gaffi is from a cast of the ANH one. There are other gaffis in the archives that may have ANH lineage as well.
If they made a replica out of wood you'd lose the lineage part of it. A cast would be more desirable.
There was almost a licensed Gaffi replica many, many years ago in the late 90's. Don Post wanted to make one. I got to hold the prototype and it was awesome! (directly cast from an archive original). It was deemed too dangerous and never made.
All great info, thanks.JetSetWilly said:
What was the gaffi that Tom Spina did a run of here on the RPF, maybe 15 years ago?
Did that have lineage or am I imagining that?
I have one from that run/group buy. Tom worked with a craftsman in Fiji, sent him pics etc of what the screen used one looked like and the guy made replicas from real Fijian "iron wood" as close as he could. Forttusken made steel ends separately.
Tom later took his club from that run and resculpted the handle to make it more accurate. He offered resin copies of it on the RPF.
The clubs used in the Mandalorian are based on that club Tom cast. I'm not sure if he changed it again after the initial RPF run.
So that resin run does have lineage - they're predecessors to the Mandalorian castings.
