I don’t believe that Roger Christian’s signature is 30% of the price for the ANH gaffi. In fact, you can get Roger’s autograph on the secondary market for a couple hundred dollars.I really wish it had a bigger production run, and in a non-signature (and thus more affordable) option. Based on the price of the Mandelorian one, the signature is 30% of the price of this thing. No offense to Roger, but no one's signature is worth hundreds of dollars to me. Tom seems to think that's what collectors want. Well, I guess at least 150 of the deep pocketed ones do. I don't understand the low run-high price model, but then I've never been accused of having a good head for business.
Tom said hypothetically that something non-signature might be available later, but it would be a variant (like from BOBF or something), and I for one am not interested in any other version of the prop. This edition will be the only way to get their version of what most of us consider to be the definitive gaffi stick. And they've done such a great job of it, too.![]()
Well, that’s the real trick, isn’t it? (Pun intended) The more exclusive and limited they make it, the more they can charge and also will be more on the secondary market should the buyer choose to sell down the line. You only have to look at the Prop Shop collectibles. It is another animal than the Mandelorian one, true.
But geez, make a bigger profit by selling more for less.
(Again, I am no business genius)
I meant it as the buyer. Could be a good investmentThe secondary market does them no good, though.
What was the gaffi that Tom Spina did a run of here on the RPF, maybe 15 years ago?
Did that have lineage or am I imagining that?
I did all the tear drop-shaped hash marks / pattern.I believe that was sculpted from scratch by PHArchivist

Well I don’t remember that. Not saying he didn’t but I don’t remember. What I do remember was that he had made resin copies of a totokia and sold them back in 2005. The old offer thread is gone but you can find references to it here: https://forum.rebelscum.com/threads/gaffi-sticks-for-sale.957319/As far as I know, Tom just offered real Totokias that he sourced from some shop. I was lucky enough to get one of those. I think they were intended as art for your house or something, but they were replicas not real antiques.
Does anyone have a good source for the metal parts? I have the wood Fijian club that I'd like to convert but I've never been able to find someone who just makes the axe/poker attachment.
forttusken did mine , but that was over 10 years ago. Not sure he still does them.Does anyone have a good source for the metal parts? I have the wood Fijian club that I'd like to convert but I've never been able to find someone who just makes the axe/poker attachment.

Ive seen details in various threads, I just need to go back and find which comments in which threads. Haha.Does anyone have rough measurements for an accurate totokia? Just basic ones as far as length and thickness.
